Unfortunately they didn't build upon the trains and trams that they had. It may have helped with traffic today.
The city look cleaner and more organized back then too, thanks for those photos. Very Interesting. |

Hi, new writing on here but this forum has intrigued me from the very second it was put up on here, including numba 1 and 2. im not sure as to the new 6 lane highway project but i personally feel that they have missed out on a crucial freeway project: a highway diverging from the proposed SHH extension(to Point F.) heading north east and joining the highway to Toco, intersecting with Princes town freeway. that would really open central for investment and form a link between tourism(Toco) and industry(South west Pen.). A freeway very similar to that of europe's e.g the french autoroute/ motorways but four lanes. It would build up towns like Sangre Grande and sando even more meaning less dependency on POS. Sorry for my mad ideas but im just really entusiastic about infrastructural development in TnT amongst other things.
P.S. for those who don't know if you go on the EMA website, click on CEC information then ministry of works expansion project then on the 2nd document it gives all the detail of the Sando/St Mary's to Point Fortin project.

Check out these Aerial 1972/73 pics of POS
See if you recognize anything. Nobody from that era would recognize POS now. ![]()
