Still nobody mention any word about renovating the towers around gradski zid but I hope that somebody will do something about it. I don't live in gradski zid but as a citizen a don't like the way thay look right now. It will be great if thay change the facade in to same more modern style.

If there are any buildings that should be restored into a more modern style, it's these three. They look very ugly and they ruin the view from the city square.

Does anyone know if there are plans to update them?

I agree but I still think that towers around gradski zid looks even more ugly then those, as we can see it takes much more time and money to make the city centre much more attractive.

Well, the gradski zid buildings look ugly, but they would cost a lot of money to modernise, I would imagine. I think they should actually destroy those buildings and build something else in their place. They need to push such ordinary looking apartment buildings further out of the city, and develop that area into a down town business district or something, with brand new skyscrapers (or something similar to San Marco).

Are you serious ? you suggest to destroy buildings where many people live ?
I don't like those ugly towers of gradski zid but I think they should modernize the facades of the buildings, just to make them look better and little more modern.

Nikola I suggest to visit this http://www.build.mk/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=35

or more directly this one http://www.build.mk/forum/forum_post...ID=93198#93198

Here is a photo...

Those towers can be easily turned into business buildings...

LED screens can be a good solution, or glass facades... Both for the Towers and Blocks of Gradski Zid and the Towers of GTC and GTC included itself. Or just simply renovating and refreshing the existing facades, and maybe change of colors, etc..

But here is an example.

As for demolishing those building and building new building on their place... well I must say I am against. It can't be done and it mustn't be done. Those buildings are symbols of Skopje and are originally designed by Kenzo Tange himself.

In time, I will try to work on, illustrate and present more concepts-solutions for my city Skopje

Well no, I'm not saying just to kick the people out.

I'm thinking long term here. Skopje has less than one million people at the moment but if built up properly, Skopje can grow to 2-3 million of over the next few decades (I'm just fantasising here). And if that happens, the city will need to expand, and apartment buildings like that will need to be pushed further from the city. They need to be replaced with skyscrapers and underground parking.

Again, I'm just imagining what could be a long way down the track. For the short term though, yes, restoring them makes more sense.

Glass facades wil be much better than those ugly bricks, refreshing the existing facades will be bad idea.

Or we can put murals on some building. I think it will be very good-looking. And relaxing.

You guys have some good ideas but you are thinking way beyond what Macedonia can afford. A more realistic solution would be to just renovate and repair the facades. I would chose some warm colors, and maybe add some balconies if possible.

I don't like the colour scheme, but at least the whole block is renovated, not just parts of it.

Hi friends,

Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan announced that birth house of Ali Rıza Efendi ( Ataturk's father) started to renovated by Turkish Government. Are there any news this issue ?
