README FIRST: uploading images - search - login problems - banner - change user name - Page 6

I wanna change my email id to the custom one I own. I registered here using my old company e-mail which I don't use at all. I'm a bit skeptical to change the old one as a couple of guys I know got screwed up, couldn't log in and had to create new IDs.

Admins, is there any issue regarding this? If so I'd like to leave it as such.

I am representing the community at the SSC Community Google Sketchup project, Port Voyage, and we would greatly appreciate if the SkyscraperCity banner were to be a panorama of our city for a day. I do not know if you have visited the thread for it, so here is a link:

There are 194 pages at the moment, so it isnt a small deal. I have the file for the banner, which is 719px by 129.9px, but I do not know how you would want me to get it to you. If needed, I could try to shave off a few pixels of height. Or if it could be taller, it would look better with some space on top and bottom.

So we would really appreciate if you would at least consider it. It is not a bad panorama by any means, as you may expect from a computer created city. It looks really very realistic, even a sunset and reflections on the water and buildings. The banner is posted below, but if you want the original file, I could email it to you.

I still cannot log in. To do so, I need to try 40+ times (I counted 55 log ins a few minutes ago). It's not a cookie thing. I face the same problem from other pcs. And it's not only me.

You cannot. Changing a user name requires the database to run through every post and change the name, which given our size is an extremely long and server intensive process. Since people keep on sending me requests to change names: because the names of the accounts are tied into some of the projects we run of the XL site, I need to go these manually to change all the name. But a bigger issue is that in order to change a name at the forums, the script needs to run to 90,000,000+ posts to see if your name needs changing in there, which caused the forum to come to a halt for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on postings. In all it takes me about 30 minutes to change a name, and given that I get about 6 to 10 requests per day, I really do not want spent 3+ hours per day to change names. Sorry about that, but I also do not feel responsible for the consequences for people because of their postings.

Hi jan,

Why don't you activate the notification system on the forum? I mean, so when someone replies to our post, we get a notification of it. It's really usefull and could help improve the awsome Skyscrapercity.

Is there a limit to how many pictures can be posted per post? I have not seen any rule on that, but I think there should be a rule to limit it to no more than 3 pictures per post. I think that is more than enough, and when it comes to videos it should be one per post. Too many people flood threads with 10, even 20 pictures per post, and sometimes up to 7 or 8 youtube vids. Having so many pictures in one post, or videos, ruins the thread, and sometimes crashes my browser.
