Matute Remus Bridge (Guadalajara, México)

Puente Matute Remus

El puente Matute Remus fue proyectado por los arquitectos Miguel Echauri y Álvaro Morales Hernández, está en los cruces de la Avenida López Mateos y Calzada Lázaro Cárdenas en la ciudad de Guadalajara, Jalisco. Esta obra forma parte de un sistema de puentes que se localizan sobre la Calzada Lázaro Cárdenas, ya que esta vialidad es una de las mas transitadas de la ciudad y atraviesa los 4 municipios centrales de la Zona Metropolitana de Guadalajara de oriente a poniente y poniente oriente, comenzando en las inmediaciones de Tonalá, hasta llegar a los Cubos en Zapopan. Con esta obra, la Calzada Lázaro Cárdenas se convertirá en un viaducto de bajas emisiones, y contará con un número menor de semáforos. Junto a esta obra se construyó otro puente en la misma calzada Lazaro Cárdenas pero a su cruce con la Avenida Solidaridad Iberoamericana, más conocida como la Carretera a Chapala, en la zona del Álamo en Tlaquepaque con el nombre de Puente Álamo.

El puente lleva el nombre en honor al ingeniero civil Jorge Matute Remus, conocido por la reubicación del edificio de Telefónica Mexicana.

The construction of the bridge started in Octuber, 2009, and finished in January, 2011.

I truly believe that this has been one of Guadalajara's best investments of all time;
It gave a modern touch to that part of Guadalajara, it also solved some traffic problems, and it gave urban life to this city - something that this city really needed!

Congrats to Guadalajara, well-deserved
