And Guggenheim or MOMA?
MET. Although it is worth visiting Guggenheim just for the architecture.

Is Coney Island worth visit with a 3 year old? We'll be in New York in September.

Definitely. Deno's Wonder Wheel Park has great kiddie rides, so does the new Luna Park. Coney Island Beach is safe for all ages, and the Boardwalk is a great place to see it all. There are also myriad great places to eat, like Nathan's, Grimaldi's Pizza and Tom's (on the Boardwalk) to name but three.

Enjoy your visit. Being that we live three stops away, we go quite often and always have a great time! I've just been informed that the B&B Carousel will be up and running by the time you get there. Your three year old will love it!

The Duplex is a Gay-friendly cabaret near The Stonewall. I'm sure if you visit either of these legendary places, there will be someone who could steer you to others. |

Pretty excited as I booked a little getaway in NYC in April. Haven't been since 2000 so I'll bet a lot has changed!
![]() I'll be staying at a hotel very close to Penn Station, and hoping there are some good and reasonably priced delis around there. Dying for some NYC deli food...

This isn't exactly a question about visiting, but living for 2 years. Where would be a safe and affordable place to live if you had to commute into Manhatten to the University Of Columbia? My sister and I will be going for College but campus housing would be too expensive.

The Average rent in NYC is 3500$ for a one bedroom. There are some parts of the outer fringes of the Urban Core , but still you'll be look at paying 1200$. But look in New Jersey in the cities of Newark in the Downtown & The Ironbound Average rent is about 1300 for a 2 bedroom , although some newer buildings have rents about 900$ at least for a 1 bedroom, Look in Bayonne the average rent is 1100 for a one bedroom , Kearny is about the same. You will have the option of taking the bus to 42nd Street Terminal or the Regional Rail to 34th Street , then taking the Subway uptown which would take about an hour.

I've just heard that the Statue of Liberty - Ellis island is temporarily closed for renovation. Please can someone suggest me other alternative ways to see the statue. Taking a ferry to Staten island? thanks.

Staten Island Ferry would be your best bet. Or a trip to Governor's Island. There are some good views from there, albeit a bit farther.
