A big festival has been started in Ruse. From 22nd of September (last Friday) till the end of the month. Big balloon was set up for the opening.

Ruse's legendary football team Dunav (Danube) banckrupted two seasons ago in second division. The team is currently in the third division of Bulgarian football and this season's goal is to return in professional football. Dunav's current position in the table is 2nd, 1 point behind the leader. In the third division, a new football team from Ruse takes place for it's first year. It's name is Ariston and it is said to be the successor of another legendary football club from Ruse - Lokomotiv which unfortunately doesn't exist anymore. Photos from the Ruse derby which took place last Sunday on the former Lokomotiv stadium (today Ariston Sports Complex). Dunav won 1:0.

Many people argue about the architecture of this building and that exactly has some ottoman elements. This is the Pantheon of National Revival Heroes. Many legendary people for the Bulgarian history has been buried here. It was founded and constructed very soon though... in 1978. Before that there was a church on that very same place, which was destroyed by the communist authorities back in the days. The church, though, is being reconstructed at the other end of the park in the exactly same way as it used to look like. The photo above the one you quoted is that church.

P.S: As for the Danube shore... from all the cities in Bulgaria on the Danube (even though Ruse is the biggest one) our shore is in worst shape.
