Not a surprise for us Enders. Awful place. That's why it was so stunning when the light rail originally ended in the S 154 area. Egads. Nobody ventures there.

I am still hoping they open up a Trader Joe's at the Landing or near Kent Station.

There used to be a movie theater (I think AMC) in the Renton Village )where Uwajimaya Grocery is. Apparently it is reopening as the Roxy Theater, a Bollywood Movie Theater.

Hey, I am new here so I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post this in or if this has already been posted.
Anyways, I though this was interesting and pretty cool. It's a new mixed-use project being planned for Des Moines called Waterview Crossing. ![]() More info here: http://www.waterviewcrossing.com/dow...ing_062408.pdf |

Looks like this was put together in 2008... If it does come back, it will probably be pretty different.

I often feel badly because I've so little to offer the forum. All I know about is half a century old. But, alors! I know this place. These people will be right next to the Green River Killer's house. Perhaps when Des Moines capitalizes on the location with an attraction of some sort .. who knows. Not only that, but the frontage has been classic stalking turf ever since the frereway was built. It's been quite niced up in recent years, however, not so many turn-out/loiter locations.
A little surprising they'd permit a 20-story building right where the commuter flights go east. Discounting the sociological angle, this site has the finest views in a long ways. Huge Mt Rainier AND the Sound/Olympics. Higher floors will see downtown Seattle to Tacoma. Waterview Crossing at Pacific Ridge. Whodda thought we'd live to see this. More updates as this progresses. |

Exclusive: some news from Seatac. (1) The S. 200th Street Link Extension is coming along, and the Federal Way Extension is starting environmental review and conceptual engineering. This will take four years. (2) Design work is underway to connect the stub of 24th Avenue South to the stub of 28th Avenue South @ S. 200th~208th Street to complete the new corridor for jobs, improved circulation and traffic congestion relief as it opens up 200 acres for much anticipated development. By my Google-measure, this stub connector will be about 1,674 feet long and will be finished in four years.

That's great, but it's an unbelievable amount of time for a short elevated section.

I'm sorry Jim, that wasn't clear at all. The second project is a street, long-planned to parallel highway 99/International Blvd for a short stretch to open up for development the desolate land beneath the airport runway approach. For some reason (probably funds,) about 1,674' of it has been left overgrown with vines for years.

Almost in Tukwila so I figure this is a decent thread for this. I don't think we've tracked the South Transfer Station project much on here. After having erected the steel structure and then taken it down to repaint it - now there are sprinkler lines in the way of the trucks.

Funny.
Kinda similar: When I moved into my current building I opened my storage locker door, and it went BANG into the ceiling flourescent light. That's one reason why even a lot of basic jobs are speccing BIM these days. |

It is amusing how much BIM can miss not only from a "will it fit" test but also the "can it be constructed in the sequence it would have to be installed in" test. That is the more challenging test of this beam is to be installed here but are there obstacles that prevent it from being installed (very simple example). Construction simulation programs help with this but even those really just have the components magically appear in their final position but they do help to recognize that say a certain footing hasn't been installed yet and a column is suspended in mid-air.
