Yes, the road that was being repaired had huge deep cracks, which was unsafe for driving. Good thing they are fixing it now.

Standard yata satin ngayon ang 12-in concrete pavements. Those rebars are needed only at the cold joints, where fresh concrete will have to be "connected" to concrete poured the previous day.

1 killed, 7 hurt in STAR Tollway accident – NDRRMC
November 23, 2012 12:56am

A woman was killed while seven were injured in an accident at the South Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway in Batangas Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council belatedly reported Thursday night.

The NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 1 a.m. at Km 96+100 in Quilo village in Ibaan, Batangas, involving a jeep (VAE-893) and a 14-wheeler truck (RGK-671).

"Based on the investigation, the truck was traveling southbound when it overtook a vehicle ahead, which caused (a) head-to-head collision with the jeep which was traveling northbound," it said.

It identified the fatality as Erlinda Curria, of Nauhan in Oriental Mindoro.

The injured were identified as:

Leonardo Paglinawan, 46
Carilo Olayan, 54
Florencia Umali, 42
Guillermo delos Reyes, 42
Philip Olayan, 31
Jimmy Borja Jr., 27
Randy Flores, 24

In other news, there was heavy traffic in STAR tollway last night at the toll booth area. The line extended for about 1km They should probably add another toll booth just like the format at slex or skyway
