Royal Jordanian Cancels Al Ain Service from mid-Sep 2012

Royal Jordanian from 19SEP12 is cancelling service to Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, after 18 years of operation. The airline currently operates twice weekly Amman – Al Ain routing.

Existing schedule:

RJ630 AMM1600 – 1955AAN E95 24
RJ631 AAN2035 – 2225AMM E95 24

Service also operates with Airbus A320. The airline launched Al Ain service on 01MAY94 with Boeing 727 and A320.

They have also cancelled Muscat today and instead codesharing with Oman Air...obviously RJ is hurting!

RJ is hurting real bad, and for one reason. The delay in the 787-800.

RJ had planned their entire fleet around these aircraft, due to delays they had to keep the A310's in service longer than they intended, they lost money on every flight - because the aircraft was outdated. They had to lease 2 A330's - which are not cheap, they had to re-fit their A340's.

All these costs have resulted in routes being cut back, which is really sad to see - especially considering the new airport will be up and running next year.

I can only hope RJ can turn this around.

The 787 is a wide body. RJ ordered/leased 11 in total. The first was to arrive in 2012 (before all the Boeing delays) the first aircraft is expected at the end of 2014 now

الملكية الاردنية تعلن عن تعليق رحلاتها الجوية الى مسقط لاسباب تجارية

اعلنت شركة الخطوط الجوية الملكية الاردنية الثلاثاء في بيان انها ستعلق رحلاتها الى العاصمة العمانية مسقط منتصف الشهر الحالي "لاسباب تجارية".

ونقل البيان عن المدير العام الرئيس التنفيذي للملكية الاردنية عامر الحديدي قوله ان "شركة الخطوط الجوية الملكية الأردنية قررت تعليق رحلاتها الجوية بين عمان ومسقط اعتبارا من السابع عشر من تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر الجاري".
واضاف ان "قرار تعليق الرحلات الجوية يأتي لأسباب تجارية تتعلق بالجدوى الاقتصادية من تشغيل هذا الخط".
واوضح الحديدي ان "شركة الطيران العماني التي تشغل حاليا سبع رحلات اسبوعيا بين مسقط وعمان ستواصل تشغيل هذه الرحلات بموجب اتفاقية منتظرة بين الشركتين"، مشيرا الى ان "الشركتين ستعمل بموجب هذه الاتفاقية على تسويق وبيع المقاعد على طائرات الطيران على اساس التشارك بالرمز" ،وتسير الملكية الاردنية اربع رحلات اسبوعيا بين عمان ومسقط.

Royal Jordanian from 17NOV12 is cancelling Amman – Muscat service, after nearly 40 years of service. The oneWorld member currently operates up to 4 weekly service on this route.

Royal Jordanian Airlines Fleet

Royal Jordanian Airlines launched flights to Algiers.

The twice weekly flights to the Algerian capital, on Monday and Wednesdays, will feed other routes in the region including Jeddah and Medina, targeting Algerian Muslims traveling to the Saudi Arabian holy cities for hajj and umrah pilgrimages.

Royal Jordanian said market research indicated that the route could help it capitalise on Algerians seeking specialist medical treatment in Jordan.

“The Algiers route will see active traffic to the kingdom from medical tourists. Jordan is fast becoming a very attractive destination for medical tourism in the region,” a statement said.


A third flight, scheduled for Thursdays, will begin April 1.

Royal Jordanian to Launch Flights to Washington

Royal Jordanian, Jordan’s national carrier, announced the launch of direct service to Washington Dulles Airport this summer, making the US capital its fourth US destination and complementing its existing flights to Chicago, Detroit and New York.

Royal Jordanian adds a 4th weekly Algiers service

Royal Jordanian Airlines this month has increased operation on Amman – Algiers route, with the addition of 4th weekly service. The new service operates on Tuesdays.
