M - Downtown: Scale model of Downtown

Folks. I have started a project to build a downtown with all renowned skyscarpers models across the world. I am posting all updates regularly in my blog at

http://santhosh-vilak-mdowntown.blogspot.com/

Project – The M Downtown

Started: August’11
Estimated completion time: Feb’12

The project is to build various Skyscraper models and distribute them across the Downtown. This is my first post after I have decided to name my project as The M Downtown. M stands for ‘Magnificent’ here.

The project is to build models of various Skyscrapers currently built around the world and distribute them across in this Downtown. The idea is to put skyscrapers which are spread across the world to be at one place. I have not come up with the Downtown design at this time but have short listed about 35 skyscrapers to be included in this downtown. These models are built on the scale as 1 ft (actual size) = 1 mm (model size) with Bass/Ply wood. For example, if the height of the original building is 500 ft, my model will be built with height of 500 mm which is equivalent to 50 cm. I have selected the list of Skyscrapers to be built, some based on their unique design even though they are not the tallest of the buildings, and some based on their reputation as historic/famous skyscrapers.

Please feel free to check the pictures of the Skyscrapers I completed in the SKYSCRAPERS section in the above link.

Hey just to let you know, on your blog where it has a list of proposed skyscrapers you need to change the ft symbol to meters. Im pretty sure Burj Khalifa is not 828 ft.

Thank You! I did, I think yesterday. But I am in the works of a 3 tower complex that will reach 252m into the sky that I will post in the next few days.

How is your city coming along? Any new models/layout ideas?

Hai SWFC fan, You might consider a tower in the water body. It might add some attraction to your city as it is surrounded by water body.

Cheers

Hey guys...sorry back here after long time. Would like to let you all know there is a lot of progress and changes that have been made to my M downtown model in this gap. All the buildings that will be in the downtown have been finished and also finalized a design from my downtown.

Total of 53 building models have been made, out of which 31 are self designed which includes low rise buildings.I have to arrange them appropriately in my model layout design now. Still work to do folks!

I will post the pictures soon. In the mean while if you have facebook account, I uploaded some pictures in my photos section of my page. Feel free to browse through it:

Please see below picture of all buildings all I placed at one place at this time and my model layout, I designed. I designed this model based on Yin-Yang symbol (Chinese philosophy)

[IMG][/IMG]

I have detailed pictures of each model on my FB page. Here is the link:
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...4602721&type=3

Next step is to arrange them as they fit in this model and landscaping, still lot of work to do

- Cheers!
