The "Invader" invades Miami

Parisian-street artist Space Invader made his way through Miami blasting the area with nearly 25 new mosaics complimentary of the artist's signature street aesthetic. With his vibrant color selections and 8-bit motif, the latest works from the Space Invader is a perfect addition to city's urbanized areas and budding street art scene.

The most interesting thing about the works of the Invader is that they are illegal. He has no permission from the owners or the Government of these properties to erect these mosaics!

The Herald has an interesting article on him : http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/08/1...c-artiste.html

Have any of you guys seen on these mosaics around?

I was wondering what that was on one of the columns of the Metro Mover next to the Miami Tower!

I love the palm frond laying on the sidewalk.....SO Miami...!!!!! Takes me back to my childhood.....because all of our forts had thatched roofs...and the quest was always on to find as many fronds on the ground as possible.

We would walk home from school, dragging them...

Oh, man. So true! I can remember my friends and I building some so well that they were virtually rainproof!

One thing I don't know if folks under a certain age realize is how dramatically fewer coconut palms there are in South Florida today than years ago. Has nothing to do with development---it was that terrible 'lethal yellowing' blight in the 70's that wiped so many out. Remember how so many had that dark stain from the 'injection' to try and save them?

Of course, coconut palms aren't even native to Florida but they still screamed 'Miami' for many, many years.
