i would seriously consider buying somewhere here if i was still in London. Its so well connected. its pretty gritty in parts but i think its hit the bottom and coming back up, same with blackfriars road southern end

I'm seriously tempted too but for somewhere to actually live rather than an investment.

I live in a three bed ex council flat that is only 40 minute walk from the city, landlord bought it last year for just over 200k. Bargain for a rental property IMO.

To buy I'd prefer somewhere a bit less edgy but still in the area (that probably sounds a bit snobby)

Oh no, they can do better than this for the pavillion building. I honestly thought it was an existing building next door waiting to be demolished.

Ok, so it's reconstituted stone, and metal. Very good. Could we have some artistic flourishes please? There's a building next door they could copy if short of ideas.

I agree. Imagine if this were in Bloomsbury not E&C.

Yes, imagine. No thundering dual carriageway for a start I expect. Maybe make that a priority to complain about rather than superfluous flourishes .

why is is fake? as far as i am aware its 'of its time' which i put at turn of the 20th century. ok, googling..
ok, so facade/portico is 1860 rest is a rebuild circa 1950s. i like it, its a grand 'metropolitan' building imho

Its a pity the tabernacle has those crap signs in front of it considering it's the only decent building in E&C left it should be a bit better presented.
The new building while better than what it is replacing is mind numbingly boring in its massing and elevational treatment. I just think they really could of been a little more inventive and had a bit of fun.

Interim use design proposals open for comment, loosely based on shoreditch container community although focused on studio / workshop spaces

The outline planning docs are finally showing on the Southwark planning website.

Not much new. Lots of big square plots with buildigs of various heights, similar to the Olympic village except with a lot more towers. A nice big park with lots cafe a restaurants facing on to it. Towards Walworth road some bi retail units with a second shared pace street for smaller units. If the get the right tenants it could be very nice.

Also the got various practices to submit design ideas for each block after following the design guide. Again similar to the Olympic village.

If they build this fairly quickly and don't wimp out over the designs then it could be quite nice.
