Hanggang Congressional Avenue Extension na lang. I'm hoping that MNTC will construct 2 additional entry and exit points at Sampaguita Avenue in Mapayapa Village and at Quirino Highway.

Small road work update:

Tapos na yung wew Asphalt overlay from Balintawak Toll Plaza to SMART Interchange.

And they are now currently working for the 4th lane. (1st-3rd lane has already done with new asphalt overlay) from SMART Interchange upto Canumay Footbridge (Valenzuela Exit).

NLEx expansion work resumes in January

Posted on November 28, 2012 10:16:08 PM

MANILA NORTH Tollways Corp. (MNTC) will resume in January next year the expansion of North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) which was disrupted by right-of-way issues, the company’s top official said late Tuesday.

“The good news is that, by January, we are going to start construction of the first segment of the harbor link,” MNTC Chief Executive Officer Rodrigo E. Franco said during a party the company held for media in Quezon City last Tuesday night.

“We already filed with the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) a request to start construction of the Segment 9,” he added.

He explained that right-of-way acquisition, which is being undertaken by the government, is “almost done.” “The right of way acquisition is almost done, but we will start construction even without the completed right-of-way acquisition,” he said.

DELAYED
The expansion segment concerned was originally planned to start this month, Mr. Franco said.

He added that the company is currently choosing its contractor for the project.

“We are actually in the process of selecting our constructor for this segment,” he said.

“We have short-listed three Filipino construction companies and, hopefully, we can choose the contractor soon and start the construction in January,” he said.

He did not name the prospective contractors.

MNTC -- the concessionaire of the 84-kilometer NLEx -- started the expansion of the road in 2009.

In June 2010, the company completed P2.1-billion Segment 8.1, a 2.7-kilometer expressway running from NLEx Cloverleaf in Valenzuela City to Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City.

Segment 9, a 2.1-kilometer expressway, will run from NLEx Cloverleaf to McArthur Highway near the Valenzuela City Hall.

ONE YEAR TO COMPLETE
The project will cost the company around P1.6 billion, Christopher Daniel C. Lizo, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) chief financial officer, said last month.

MPTC is the parent firm of MNTC.

“This is a project that will take one year to complete. So, around end of next year, we will have the segment going to Valenzuela,” Mr. Franco said.

“And while the segment is being constructed, we are actually starting acquisition of the right of way for the next segment that will further extend that road to Circumferential 3 (C3) in Caloocan,” Mr. Franco said, referring to Segment 10.

SEGMENT 10
This segment -- a seven-kilometer expressway, which will stretch from the end of Segment 9 to Circumferential Road 3 (C3) in Caloocan City -- will cost the company about P8 billion.

Construction of this segment expected to start late next year and finish in 2015.

The last portion, Segment 8.2, is an approximately eight-kilometer expressway that will run from Mindanao Avenue to the C5-Commonwealth connection.

It is estimated to cost approximately P10 billion.

The segment’s detailed design is expected to be completed by the middle of next year, Mr. Franco had said in late September.

Metro Pacific Investments Corp., the parent of MPTC, is the local unit of Hong Kong-based First Pacific Co. Ltd., which partly owns Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT).

Hastings Holdings, Inc., a unit of PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund subsidiary MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., has a minority stake in BusinessWorld.

Shares of MPIC added 17 centavos or 3.93% to P4.50 apiece yesterday from P4.33 last Tuesday, while those of MPTC, which is set to delist on Dec. 21, were last traded at P6 apiece on Nov. 27. -- Cliff Harvey C. Venzon

delayed nga ng 1month ang construction ng segment 9, supposed to be december 2012...
magpapahuli ba ang MPTC dahil malapit na magsimula ang Citra/SMC ng Skyway by 1st or 2nd quarter 2013.
