Futuristic & Visionary Buildings

There are some buildings that seem to be rather unorthodox and to anticipate future trends.

I would like to collect some of these works, here we go:

"Theme Building" by Pereira and Luckman in Los Angeles (1961):

Zaha Hadid's New Wonderland in China - Changsha Meixihu Culture and Art Center

Zaha Hadid Architects have released images and video of their new project in China, the Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Center. The project
is located in the capital of the south central chinese province of hunan. The massive urban project, which broke ground in October, is a campus of
organic sculpted buildings which are semi-independent, but speak a uniform architectural language.

See additional images and an awesome video - http://bit.ly/Yg1jXn

These buildings sure look visionary from an architectural point of view, but I'd hate to be the project engineer to construct them. The efforts to make the building as fancy as possible often means you have to forego all hopes of using standard solutions for windows, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, etc., and the building becomes terribly expensive, inneficient and quite unflexible. If you later find out that one of the chosen solutions doesn't work properly, there's very little you can do to change it.

Then again, I sit on the engineering side of the never-ending feud. Perhaps the architects have another way to look at it.
