These were the next stage of RRs to be taken (RR 15 wrongly written) - link. Out of that RRs 11, 16 & 22 were approved on July 28th 2012 - link. I dont know about RR 5 but I think RR 15 has been delayed due to acquisition of properties

That RFP was given out in Jan 2011. And it took then 18 months to tender three roads. That's slow.

RR 15 (Radhika X Road-Yadgarpalli)

I made a map with the most probable route that goes with the maps provided in HMDA bid document. As expected the route goes through Jawahar Nagar.

See in Google Maps

Nice finds there about the Raidial Roads, World
If we finish 5 radial roads every year like this, the entire project will finish in 5 years.

That thread for Radial Roads was created not once but twice. The posts ended up being moved to this thread.

Himayatnagar main road has be relaid completely. Only fault is that they haven't raised the manhole levels yet so there are a few depressions. And milling was going on near Narayanguda.

Have req. Mods for the thread.

That list of RRs is good but old and some end points were changed meanwhile. You can refer this document for RRs that are being currently being executed - Status Report on Outer Ring Road Project (Aug 2012). I think the RRs 5 & 15 the construction is only for 2 lane Not sure though, had seen that in an old document

Actually I hope they start cutting old road before relaying new one, that's the norm at least in the developed world.....in some areas in the city roads height has increased so much that the buildings seem to be in a trench. Near Y junction some of the manholes are like half a feet or a feet higher than the road, makes absolutely no sense, looks like they are preparing for when the road is relaid and grows to that height.

Is cutting different from milling?

He probably means milling where the old pavement is scraped before laying the new one.

Foundation laid for Radial Road

Quote:
Work on laying three Radial Roads to provide connectivity from the Inner Ring Road to the Outer Ring Road will be taken up next month.

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy laid the foundation stone on Sunday for one of the three _ RR-22 from Nagole Junction to Gowrelly Crosssroad (14.75 km) _ which will be laid at a cost of `45 crore. The Nagole Jn-Gowrelly RR-22 will pass through Bandlaguda. The work is entrusted to SLMI Infra Projects Ltd.

The other two are RR-11 from Jeedimetla to Saregudem (8.55 km, `93 cr) and RR-16 from ECIL Crossroads to Cheriyal Crossroad (10.18 km, `69.51 cr).

Besides, two RRs are in the pipeline.

The five radial roads, together, will have a length of 57.80 km and will cost `287.51 crore. For the three RRs (33.50 km), `207.51 crore has been sanctioned.

HMDA officials told Express that the state government accorded administrative sanction in July this year for taking up improvement of RRs 11, 16 and 22 under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) loan agreement.

For RR-5 from Shaikpet to Kokapet (5.80 km, `31.50 cr) and RR 15 from Radhika Junction, Kushaigua to Yadgarpally (15.15 km, `48.50 cr), procurement process has been initiated and is expected to be completed on November 29.

They said HMDA proposed 33 RRs with length of 390 km. As all the roads cannot be taken up at one go as it requires `3,000 cr and with JICA agreeing to lend only `380 cr to HMDA, the RRs will be developed in phases.

Of the 33 RRs, seven have been completed for a length of 53.72 km costing `341.17 cr. They are ANGRAU-Himayatsagar (RR-2, 6.6 km, `51.53 cr), Rethibowli Jn-AP Police Academy (RR-3, 10.5 km, `57.67 cr), Cantonment Y Jn at Langar House to Gandipet T Jn (RR-4, 6.8 km, `41.02 cr), Bairamuluguda-Bongulur Gate (RR-25 , 13.24 km, `87.13 cr), Pahadisherif police stn to Tukkuguda (RR-28, 7.29 km, `43.48 cr), Laxmiguda Crossroads to Mamidipally (RR-29, 7.7 km, `51.54 cr) and Extension Financial District to Kokapet (RR-33, 1.55 km, `8.80 cr).

The five RRs on NH having a length of 83.35 km were widened and improved.

HMDA seeks approval to work on 16 radial roads

The Hindu

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has approached the government seeking approvals to take up work on 16 radial roads (RR) running to a total length of about 195 km.

The proposal submitted to the government sought ‘in principle’ approval to utilise available savings under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) loan agreement including Forex savings, for an approximate cost of Rs.1,500 crore.

The HMDA has identified a total of 33 RRs to provide improved connectivity between existing Inner Ring Road and the Outer Ring Road that is taking shape around the city.

Of this, seven stretches for a length of 53.27 km have already been completed. Costing nearly Rs.341.17 crore, the completed RRs connect the ORR western and southern sectors.

For the rest of the RRs, the works would be grounded soon including three at a cost of Rs.207.51 crore at Jeedimetla, ECIL Crossroads and Nagole Junction scheduled for December.

For two others, at Shaikpet and Radhika Junction, the administrative sanctions were already accorded.

With the Outer Ring Road (ORR) starting to finally fall in place, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is now looking forward to laying the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

Proposed in the Master Plan, which has been submitted to the government for approval, the ambitious RRR plan has a 290-km long road network circling the city beyond the ORR.

After the HMDA jurisdiction was expanded with inclusion of parts of surrounding districts of Medak, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy, the HMDA proposed the RRR to connect key locations in these districts and also link it with the national highways.

Initially, the new road network was proposed as 60-metre wide but the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, suggested widening it and asked the officials to study similar peripheral road networks in cities such as Bangalore.

90-metre wide road

Following the instructions and a study, the HMDA has decided on a 90-metre wide RRR which earned the Chief Minister’s approval.

According to officials, the RRR proposal, after suggestions and objections in the draft Master Plan, has been fixed at 290-km long and 90-metre wide.

“Once the government’s approval for the Master Plan is received, work on alignments for the road and other related works will be taken up,” said an official.

The RRR would be given a shape by strengthening the existing roads and adding new stretches wherever linkages were found missing.
