Most new private malls, housing, office buildings etc coming up in Ahmedabad are as good as anywhere else in the western world. Variety of building material and amount of steel and cement being used is amazing. Seems government construction hasn’t improved much though. Ahmedabad and North Gujarat is almost a semi arid region so dust won't go away specifically in suburbs. Putting concrete carpet everywhere isn't really the solution as it will lead to water runoffs besides every drop of rain we receive must to be utilized for which natural ground water is the best storage facility we have. Hopefully we'll figure out a combination of manmade material and natural vegetation to control dust.

Yes, trees, shrubs and grass are the best solution to keep the dust away...but at least in the core city areas they can have end to end roads with pavements leaving no space for dust to accumulate.

AMC has acquired those vacuum trucks which sucks up the dust on the sides of the road, which has resulted in better looking roads.

I agree core city streets near Manekchawk, Ratanpol, Tran Darwaja etc can be end-to-end pavements and footpaths. Some pedestrian only streets can be preferably cobblestoned. Ashram Road, CG Road etc can be end-to-end with flower beds and trees. SG Road should have been planed as access controlled expressway perhaps too late for that now. Anyhow, with increased prosperity there’s also increased awareness and efforts to keep the city clean; and with all the development in and around city future is mindboggling.
