I'll join in here because this is actually one of my future specialties...
On Metro Manila buses following a South Korean concept: I think a better way to do it would be to actually enforce strict driver discipline first before adopting the methods found in other countries because there have been recorded accidents involving buses before that has caused injuries and fatalities in the process... And that while bus companies get sued from them, they just pay the government or agencies padulas or tong, and they'll be back on the streets in no time. I believe that extensive bus driver training should be needed first and regularly stress that in everyday work (even have a yearly retraining if needed) so that the quality of bus services in the country can be improved or enhanced even further.

MMDA to implement shifting, zoning for Baclaran vendors
MANILA, Philippines -- A new vending scheme will be implemented in Baclaran this coming holiday season, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said. MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino on Friday told vendors in Baclaran that they will undergo zoning and shifting from December 16 until January 6 next year to keep the order and prevent overcrowding in the areas surrounding the Redemptorist Church. Under the new system, vending stalls in Baclaran will be divided into three zones. Tolentino said zone 1 will be allotted for food vendors, zone 2 for non-garment vendors, and zone 3 for vendors of garments and accessories. Shifting in the 350 stalls will also be implemented so that all 2,000 vendors can be accommodated, MMDA said. See-through fences will be placed in between stalls to make sure that vendors would not stray from their designated areas. MMDA will also issue identification cards (IDs) to legitimate vendors in the area to avoid illegal vendors. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/me...claran-vendors |

Actually the real problem imo is not having a proper pheripheral bypass highway, most cities in Europe for example have a ring highway around the city which allows traffic to go around said cities without having to encumber the city center of course they also have efficient railways etc, however imo by simply completing C6 alot of the extra traffic attributable to passing through north/south traffic could be avoided if a proper bypass highway existed because right now alot of traffic don't really have much of a choice when travelling north or south but to pass through edsa ... .
But yes other initiatives like the one mentioned can probably help somewhat along with making traffic more disciplined especially buses their speeds must be reduced and they must be made to stick to their specific lanes .

I then want to ask: what would be a bypass highway be like? There are ramped up plans to extend the current Skyway from just within South Luzon Expressway to make it all the way through Osmeña Highway and on top of the Philippine National Railway (PNR) right-of-way en route to and from North Luzon Expressway, which will become a continuous toll road. C6 can also be a good bypass, but I suspect that it will also be built up along the sides of the roadway, similar to what happened with C5.

I think it is best for C6 to be kinda like SLEX Metro Manila. It has a limited access expressway (maybe 4 lanes per direction) and service roads next to it.

They're putting bike lanes all over. I'm curious if there are many bikers who use that lane.

Hmmm... what about C6 to become similar to the Skyway, with similar road specifications and a toll road, with service roads below ground? Along with that, a light rail (tram) service running below the Skyway to promote mass transit along the corridor...

thanks to commonwealth Avenue's wide sidewalks and road, putting up bike lanes will be an ease.
Most of our sidewalks and roads are too narrow to squeeze in bike lanes..

IMo here is the best bike lanes i've seen,so far ![]() The best places to put bike lanes are near bridges to get good views of the waterways and the cityscape.Look at the roads and pavements. They are either made of bricks or stones, the older roads are cobbled stones.

Agree. How disappointing! I don't pass that area regularly daily so I don't know if they water those plants daily. If they do water daily, baka hindi nakayanan ang pollution. Pero meron plants na kaya ang pollution.
