i only like then because they are updated frequently.but we will be happy with twice a year updates and clearer imagery

Fair enough that they want to make a profit but 25k??? Come on, I think that's just a little excessive!

How big is the pool though? I wonder what a decent sized organisation would pay for traditional aerial photography over that period?

Yes but this is a private business providing a quote to a government agency for the provision of a service (aerial mapping).

To anybody running a business, government contract = bottomless pit of money/profit

What I find astounding is that the company couldn't care less about personal users. Not whinging about it no longer being free as much, but the fact that you can't even pay for access if you want it, now only businesses can use Nearmap.

Would have thought it would be a nice little income stream if they charged individuals for personal access rights, but no, unless you're a business that wants to broker a deal for their staff to use for work purposes, you can fuck right off

But as to the CEO's Twitter:

https://twitter.com/nearmapCEO

Quote:
@nathan_stitt @nearmap as stated many times over the last 12 months we are focused on business customers only

12:44 AM - 3 Dec 12 · Details

12h Simon Crowther Simon Crowther ‏@nearmapCEO

@ashermoses we do not offer personal use access Asher - focused on Enterprise customers. We sell subscriptions for 1-5 users + for SME's

Oh, didn't realise that. I suppose again that people would exploit it.

Why is everyone using the acronym SME all of a sudden, what were they called before that?

I tried for UQ- nup. Can't imagine UQ would be willing to pay the access fees for 40K students + staff lol

I still have not heard back from them; as it is no longer a secret maybe they just do not like me. I am truly mortified.
