The old clubs have got xx Spor Kulübü (Sports Club)
The clubs which were founded in the 1960s (merger of smaller clubs) are "Province name + spor and Kulübü" So Konyaspor Kulübü etc

I think it's a reference to the use of the word 'Sporting' rather than the club itself.

But that Spor in many Turkish clubs is Turkish, I believe, like there are many clubs in Portugal called Desportivo de Something. While Sporting's name came from the English word Sporting (a common choise in the early 20th Century), like Sporting Gijón, or other clubs named Racing.
