Want to see places Jesus has been
Hello, I'm an America planning to take a trip to Israel. I would like to see some of the places Jesus was at. I am just looking into this, so any recommendations would be great. Places to stay (do any Israelis take in Americans for a few days?) places to see. I would also like to see some of the country. I would really like to avoid the crowds so I don't think the bus tours are something I would want to do, but they are an option I'll keep in mind. I would like to go when the temperatures are not so hot.

I think if you want to visit places where Jesus was at, here would be my advice: 1) Sea of Galilee/Jordan River. Depending on your length of stay, I would alot maybe 2-3 days for this area. There isn't much to see in Nazareth in my opinion. The Church of the Annunciation isn't particularly impressive, given that it's only about 40 years old (the current building). I think spending a day or two along the Sea of Galilee might be nicer. The challenge in visiting this part of the country is that it's not well-served by public transportation (i.e., trains). You could take buses, but those could be very time-consuming (as you'll have to change stops many times) and confusing for a foreign visitor. And unfortunately, this part of the country isn't served by trains. I would advise you to either rent car if you want to travel alone (but I advise against this to first-time visitors) or to sign-up for a 2-3 days of the Galilee region. Here is an example of something to consider: http://www.eggedtours.com/ 2) Jerusalem. Jerusalem you can see on your own, but I would still recommend going on a guided-tour of the Old City. There is so much to see and I think it's nice to have a good explanation for all the things that you are seeing. 3) Bethlehem. I haven't been here, so I can't give you advice. If you have any other questions, feel free. |

I was thinking 8 to 10 days including plane ride, so 6 to 8 days there. Just depends on the flight schedule I get. Thanks for the links. I'll look at them. |

You welcome.
For 6 days you probably should focus on the main sites. Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Qasr El Yahud and Sea Of Galilee. |
