What are your computer specs? I want an idea of how detailed you can go to improve the construction of your model. The most basic way would be to model each floor and use components to make your building. Your building shape is irregular, so you would need to do it a little differently.
If you would like, I can make a tutorial on how you could make that building in more detail. The principles however are transferable to other buildings as well. |

Hey, I've been trying to make models like Pingyao used to do in his C4D cities, mostly using textures. But when I try to do some kind of building I only get this kind of things: (obviously this is a tower I did in 30 seconds)
![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us I know that I can re locate the textures wherever I want, but in this kind of cases where the geometry is a bit more complex, it turns way more difficult. Is there any alternative way to make this much simpler? |

How could i build a building which has a square as the shape of the ground floor, and while it goes up, it ends in a circle shaped floor?

Sorry for the bump from the beyond, but I felt that a new thread for this was inappropriate.
I am having a really tough time making good cladding at a decent rate. Any tips? |

depending on what kind of cladding you're looking for, and what you mean by "decent rate", i might be able to help

Cladding like
http://aedesign.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/bionic.jpg and http://www.chicagoarchitecture.info/...oSpire-005.jpg By good rate, I mean not so that it is extremely tedious and boring. |

...you do realise that there's nothing to be seen in these pictures? the cladding could be anything, yet all you can tell about it from these renders is the color...

I mean, the general curveature of the buildings. I have a hard time lining up my cladding with my structure.

since some people were interested in my technique:
Tutorial: Columns on buildings with curved surfaces In thís tutorial, i'll show you how to do something like this ![]() 1. First of all, you need a design for your building (obviously). ![]() 2. For better overview, 'cut' it vertically. ![]() 3. Figure out where the columns are supposed to start (they don't have to be vertically before they start to 'follow' the buildings shape, this is just a feature i integrated into my design). ![]() 4. Make intersections of the tower's hull and flat surfaces at regular intervals; this is where the columns will intersect later on. ![]() It should look like this: ![]() 5. Now, use the offset tool on the new surfaces. note that the distance from the hull to the new line must be higher than the radius of your columns, otherwhise they'll 'stick out' of the hull later Also make sure the radius is constant on all levels.![]() 6. Draw lines starting from the center of the columns to the next level and back to form the lower half of the 'X'-bracing. ![]() ![]() 7. Now simply use the 'follow me'-tool to extrude a circle along this path. ![]() 8. Repeat step 6 & 7 on all levels... ![]() ...congratulations, your curved columns are finished ![]()

I figure this will be useful.
Plugin Index: http://sketchucation.com/forums/view...?f=323&t=28782 Must have plugins: http://sketchucation.com/forums/view...?f=323&t=16909 Both require a free accounts; for a good reason. The account requirement is required to make sure people download the latest plugin version.
