Seriously, the Pentominium has one of the most crazy and impressive looking foundations I've seen. It would be truly crass to cap this building at a lower height and waste all that work.

Yeah, I guess what is most likely is that this site sits empty for some years, and whoever finally buy it will probably build there something tall as originally planed. Anything else makes very little sense in this location. The question is if they will preserve its original design as building something simple is obviously cheaper and we know well it's not like world class design is mandatory in the tallest block. But yeah, it's sure as hell, I would love to see pentominium finished with it's original design

One point has to be considered. Leaving this the way it is for years, will most propably reduce the areas value a lot. Having such an unfinished concrete bunker, in the middle of a such densly built up area is a nightmare. This is no Pyongyang. Maybe they need a solution very soon for that site.

If the developer has left for good and indicates he is never to return, there is one Goverment program in place that confiscates abandoned sceletons and try to find prospective investors to complete the buildings/towers.

Now we hope the developer will find financing and return. It has happened in the past, there has been some towers that have restarted now and progressing normally, that have been stalled for 5 or more years, from even before the crisis.

Will the Dubai government offer sweetheart deals that cover a portion of the cost if a developer will finish it? Have they ever done something like that?

What sweet deal? Is not as if Dubai Goverment is the developer. If that happen, they will just act as agents. They certanly aren't gone cover part of the construction costs of the new owner/developer.

PS: They recently transferred ownership for thre halted/abandoned structures of 25 - 35 stories high

I cant imagine them doing that, I have friends who live there one if which is rather high up in a company and for them anything the government doesn't get involved.

Their project is just slowly starting back up after sitting idle for 18 months.

I think he means projects in Dubai in general .... unless he has insiders info, but I doubt that cause we have here someone who does have them, andd he is nowhere to be seen.

Technically not correct. One of the cranes is still on top, and with his flood lights on. Also ther formwork is still there.
