Oh wow... Ours go something like this:

Ford Crown Victoria:
- 4.6L V8, 250 HP, 19mpg combined, RWD

Ford Police Interceptor Sedan, aka Taurus:
- Base 3.5L V6, 288 HP, 21mpg combined, AWD (optional FWD improves economy a little)
- 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, 365 HP, 20mpg combined, AWD

Ford Police Interceptor Utility, aka Explorer:
- 3.7L V6, 300 HP, 19mpg combined, AWD

Dodge Charger:
- Base 3.6L Pentastar V6, 300 HP, 19/31 MPG, RWD
- 5.7L V8, 370 HP, 16/25 MPG, RWD

Chevrolet Impala:
- Can't find any stats... out of date, uncompetitive, slow, and FWD... but with a huge trunk. As if the others aren't big enough. They're introducing a badly-needed redesign for the Impala for the 2014 model year. Even apart from police use, it's a 2006 car that they're trying to sell in 2012. The police version of the Impala might be discontinued soon.

Chevrolet Caprice:
- 3.6L V6, 301 HP, 21mpg combined, RWD
- 6.0L V8, 355 HP, 18mpg combined, RWD

More info can be found here for those willing to wait for it to load - GM's website ain't quick to respond. It's a little out of date, as the V6 Charger now comes with an 8-speed transmission with a little more power and a little better fuel economy.

If I were running a decent-sized police department, I'd split the main patrol fleet 50/50 with Ecoboost Taurus's and V6 Chargers, with a few Explorers and Expeditions for some special uses, and V8 unmarked Caprices (black, of course) for higher-ranking officers because they're reputed to be the most comfortable and of course the brass oughta get something nicer.

If I ran a Police department in the US i'd wait until the VF Commodore hits the shores with Holden announcing the new model VF will be coming to America exporting as Chev, then id deck the fleet out with these models alone - then it'll look allot like the Australian vehicles - and everyone no's that the Australian PPV's are some of the best and intimidating on earth!

One thing that I dont like about the American fleet other then they're all Crown Vic's is the fact that the undercover highway units stick out like dog nuts, in Australlia you would never no unless you get caught. They're so hard to spot!

Also is it true that they're stockpiling the Crown Vic's?? thats what I read somewhere cause they're so reliable! Please god no! aha soooo ugly!

Here is some more Australia Police pawnage along with the most powerful highway patrol car to hit Australian Roads! .

I definitely agree on the unmarked cars being so easily visible - if they went with unmarked midsize sedans with the upgraded engine they'd actually blend in, and be able to keep up for the most part. Maybe a few Mustangs. Ford offered a Mustang police package back in the early '90s... they ought to now, but I can see why they wouldn't want to.

And it's definitely true that some departments stocked up on CVPIs before they quit making them. They're the ones that are actually concerned about having cars they can beat to hell and then push some fuck off the road with. They don't give a rat's tutu what the car looks like, as long as it's tough as nails and won't flip over.

And that's why the pit maneuver is banned by all police agencies in Australia

We only do it if 1) they deserve it and 2) it's safe - straight, wide road without any other traffic nearby.

That was because it was a senior sergeants personal car, not an actual undercover/unmarked PPV.

This is your usual undercover/unmarked PPV;

(the blue Holden, you can see the speed detection device on its pillar)

Saltillo (City): The green ones are only road police so they only do ticketing and stuff, blue and red are the same, they painted then red for some stupid reason but they painted them blue again shortly after.

Dodge Ram 2500

Chevrolet captiva

Jeep Wrangler

Dodge Avenger

I dunno what these are
