It is indeed. There are many similar beautiful pearls in KSA and the rest of the Arabian Peninsula. I suggest visiting the KSA thread I made in the general forum. I assure you that you would get a few surprises of the beauty, diversity, architecture, ancient heritage, charm etc.
![]() Anyway thank you again KWT. Excellent photos and thread.

![]() ![]() ![]() That sounds great. I suggest you make him take you around all the diverse regions of the country. I know it's a HUGE country but it will be worth it. I have so much to see myself. From the north to the south and west to the east. ![]() Also make sure you don't visit during summer unless you like VERY hot weather. Personally I have nothing against such temperatures since I cope with it very well but others might not. Although there are cities in the mountains in Hejaz - such as Ta'if which has nearly an elevation of 2.000 meters where it is pleasant during summer. Although it is crowded since many Hejazis go there. Otherwise there are the extremely beautiful south which is unspoiled and even have tropical climate, stunning beaches alongside the Red Sea coastline, beautiful ancient cities/villages with stunning architecture and high mountains/forests etc. as you saw in the KSA thread. ![]() Spring, winter and autumn are good months to travel in instead. Anyway it's not different to the weather in Iraq, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan etc. during summer

Well, even if it's summer and it's hot, if Saudis can survive the summer so can I (I will just need tons of sun cream haha)! |

I get tomato-red and then sort of "golden" -that should be enough, just need to survive the first stage! ![]() No Makkah unless I decide to become Muslim - have to admit that a non-so-religious friend wouldn't mind to smuggle me to Mecca but it just wouldn't feel right even though in am very curious about the city. |

I was in Hofuf just a few months ago, lovely place with lovely people. Be warned though, like with most places in post-oil SA, finding other (intact) examples of local architecture might feel like a tedious and near impossible task- because it is. You might be better off basking in the shades of the endless Hassawi palm plantations which are gorgeous, to say the least! :P

KWT:
It would be great if you could give us the location of all those buildings. Especially if you take them from Flickr where you can get all of the information - like this picture for example: image hosted on flickr ![]() Bar in the old Jeddah quarter - Saudi Arabia by Eric Lafforgue, on Flickr Anyway Oman is stunning. Would love to visit it. Although I am even more fond of Yemen which I am yet to visit as well. |
