Most of the area belongs to a developer, who plans to build a residential and office complex on 16ha. The developer prefers to demolish the existing buildings, but those were declared historical monuments in 2010. The developer appealed against this decision in court and the court has not decided yet. However, it is possible to develop the area while saving the existing buildings. It just demands a bit more creativity from the developer's architects and the Olšanská street cannot be extended into the area as initially planned. The area will probably be developed in the next 12-15 years.

In the past the station functioned as a freight station where goods (mostly food supplies) could be transported and stored immediately.

There will always be the the reaction "they want to protect THAT ugly old thing?", but in this case I don't see much in the old station worth protecting.

A renewal of this area would be the core of a renewal of the whole neighbourhood (eastern Zizkov, Malesice, Strasnice (add diacritics as appropriate)). There is a co-dependency of such a renewal and a new metro line, it would make most sense with a metro through Zizkov and a metro stop at NNZ would not make sense without such a renewal.

Assuming a tunnel from Hlavni Nadrazi to NNZ parts of the existing rail corridor could possibly be used for a cheap alternative track parts of the way.

Tonda s Adélou provrtali tunel do Dejvické

Tunel už propojil oba konce prodlouženého úseku metra A z Dejvické do Motola.

Well, thats quite a problem in Prague, I think there is great opportunity in the raiway tracks in Prague. Several new integrated speedcityrail lines could be established in Prague for fraction of costs (or at least not higher) that new metro or tramway lines would cost I think. But the planners are not really thinking this way, which is a pity. They are jiust starting to see some of the possibilities.

Hlavne pacienti a ich návštevy v Motole to uvítajú.
