Iceland is an accident waiting to happen. The park isn't that old and is run down as they spend no money on maintaining it. The staff are not trained well and I hear they serve alcohol which is a disaster in a waterpark! Also the customers are young arab kids with a sense of entitlement to act like idiots and ignore the staff.

Thankfully this park like Wild Wadi is bring in experienced management and staff who will not let the park end up like Iceland. It's hard to turn back time once standards slip and the customers think they own the place.

Yikes. weld el dafna probably visited around the time it opened.
They probably used very cheap materials to build that waterpark.
I suppose to be fair, you can't blame the waterpark for they type of people that visit the park. When I went to Aquaventure a few months ago, there were some people cutting lines, and the employees just stood there and said nothing.

Another waterpark that doesn't get enough attention is Dreamland. I went there 3 years ago, and surprisingly, it was actually pretty good with some scary slides.

There's nothing wrong with Iceland, it's not as polished as Wild Wadi or Aquaventure but there's nothing wrong with the safety, and it's a lot of fun.

Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina on course for expansion with new promenade

The Abu Dhabi Executive Authority for Affairs is set to expand its Yas Marina development by opening at least eight new cafes and restaurants.

Camper & Nicholsons (C&N), the managers of the 175-berth marina on the island, yesterday announced the planned expansion, adding that it would also be developing a 230-metre pedestrian promenade on the waterfront.
C&N appointed the property agent Knight Frank to lease the eight or nine new eateries that it said were scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of next year.
The marina, located near the Formula One racetrack and the Yas Viceroy Hotel, is already home to the Cipriani restaurant and the American sports bar Stars 'N' Bars.

MEP Awards: Yas Waterworld is Project of the Year

Quote:
Yas Waterworld by Atkins and Voltas has been awarded the Overall GCC Project of the Year at the MEP Awards 2012, held at the Westin Hotel in Dubai Wednesday night.

The awards, sponsored by Leminar, Viessmann, TransGulf, Faisal Jassim Trading and Ruskin Titus Gulf, proved to be a great night for both companies as Atkins also won Consultancy of the Year and Project Manager of the Year (Lee Hall), and Voltas picked up Contractor of the Year.

The project saw off competition from the category's other finalists - Capital Gate Tower by ETA which was highly commended; District Cooling Plant 3 by TransGulf; Eastern Mangrove Resort Development by Hyder Consulting; and Al Muneera Al Raha Beach Development by Drake and Scull.

Hi Chakazoolu,

Hope you're well. Was Yas Waterworld a project you were working on? I read today that that hope to break even in year one and plan 2 further extensions to the park, part 1 starting in 2016.

Very ambitious!
