Its still PAL really except the word Express. Can't go wrong with free snacks and cheaper fares not unless you want to fly "business". The big disadvantage is on balikbayans flying "PAL" international as the baggage allowance won't be honoured on the domestic leg.

I find it both interesting and funny that the DOTC would prioritize the replacement of the Tagbilaran Airport and Legazpi Airport over our's with new ones even though their annual pax also doesn't reach 1M. The rate of increase in their annual pax may be higher than ours (15.4% for TA and 18.4 for LA through '08-'10; 13% for ZIA; no stats found for the succeeding years) but our total pax outnumbers their's.

Call me bitter 'cause I am.
As I explained on the city thread, Legazpi and Tagbilaran can not be ILS capable due to terrain and obstruction, their present site is constrained for a new terminal and given they can build a new building, runway operations is limited so they are prioritized for a new one. As for Zamboanga, there was a letter from DOTC explaining its status, you can read back the thread.

Now that flights to/from Manila has been reduced to four from seven before, it's time for Seair and Zestair to take advantage once more aircraft orders has been delivered in to the Philippines.

FEED ME:

Seair - has no plans of more airbus orders yet. Right?

Zestair - is busy yet on plans of selling their operations to would-be investors. two -concentrating on adding up international routes than expanding domestically. Right?

I wonder if the remaining airlines in Zamboanga like Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines have increased their flight frequency on the Manila- Zamboanga route since PAL is not anymore servicing the route.

According to some reliable sources, though these budget carriers wanted to do so, they are restricted from doing it. The decrease of flights was not because the rate of passengers in this route are going down, but because of DOTC's general ruling of a need to decongest air traffic in Terminal 3. The reason why flights get delays toward the end of the day and at any given day.

That is unfortunate. The passenger traffic of Zamboanga is increasing, so as other cities. DOTC should fast-track the effort to increase the capacity of NAIA or push for the the building of a new airport somewhere North to serve the metropolis.

It's quite interesting to see that most of the flights to Kalibo have a stopover in Tablas, Romblon.

And this is the Domestic Passenger Traffic in the year 1965. Kalibo is 18th on the list.

In this data, ZIA ranked 5th as the busiest airport in 1960s. This illustrates that Zamboanga is a major player, half a century ago.

Well it is, in fact at one point it has more flights than Davao before as Pagadian, Dipolog, Jolo-Bongao and back terminated here. Back then, Zamboanga and Davao were at the forefront of development as agriculture was the prime product then and the barter trade was anchored in Zamboanga. Cagayan de oro was just emerging then.

Still keeping my hopes high that one day, a leader will revive the barter industry in Zamboanga. I used to remember back then, that Alta Mall was the Greenhills of the south, alot of tourists. I still believe its capability.

I remember my grandparents telling me there are direct flights from Pagadian to Zamboanga, Zamboanga - Siocon, etc. I hope that kind of glory of the aviation industry will be revived.
