ALMATY | Tram

There is a thread about Almaty metro, so I think it will be best to open a separate thread about Almaty tram.

Almaty is the latest city in Asia, which has both tram & metro. Whereas newer metro system is fast and beautiful, by contrast older tram system is neglected and a bit ugly. I heard when the metro construction started; all but two tram routes have closed. Metro opened almost after two decades, but in the meantime, tram has gradually declined.

Thankfully, it is still present.

I can’t find any map of the tram network. Please post a map of Almaty tramway network.

POST AS MANY AS PHOTOS OF ALMATY TRAM PHOTO HERE.

The tram system of Almaty was directly opened as electric system in 1937. It is clear that it was a late opener, when almost all tram cities of world has established their tram network strongly, even some has closed them. It is the oldest tramway network of Kazakhstan.

There is nothing to read, just street names.

I'd translate the whole map if I had the time.
I don't know if map in English (or Latin) exists at all.
So, as guys already explained, the map shows both existing parts of the system as also parts that were demolished with operating years for each stretch of the system.

Yellow squares represent depots, and purple circles are terminus stations.
Here's another map, this one with Sairan water reservoir and streams so you can orientate.
Red stretch is temporarily closed.

What about LRT project for Almaty? Do they plan just to reconstruct the tram system into LRT or it just will be another system?

Thanks for maps, waiting for the previos map's latin version.

Please try to answer these -
1) Reserved or unreserved, - which type of track layout is common in Almaty tramway network?
2) Which is the busiest tram terminus?
3) Which termini have interchange facility with suburban rail network?
4) Which termini have interchange facility with metro network?
5) Where is/are the depot(s) of the tramway network?
