college basketball
A "crowd" of 2,797 attended a game yesterday between UCLA and Texas. UCLA won 65-63. I am sure that they expected a bigger turnout or else they wouldn't have played in such a large venue. The game was televised nationally by ESPN.

UT has sucked so much in basketball this season + the stupid LHN and no one knows or wants to watch them play. Boy has our athletic department fallen on hard times.........................on the field.

That's kind of a terrible aspect ratio if that's really what it is going to be like.

One part of the screen will focus on the field. One part with the scores/stats. And one part with ads. In fact, I'm willing to bet that. |

Not really. They both feel similar inside even though they look nothing alike.

I disagree. That is exactly how I experienced both stadiums. Both very beautiful and very impressive, probably Cowboy Stadium even more impressive. But Reliant Stadium felt more like stadium to me as well.

But it feels like Reliant was made specifically with just football (it's main purpose) in mind with every other event and sport coming after, compared to Cowboys Stadium which sometimes can feel like it's the other way around. That's what I'm saying. |

They both feel like events centers. Especially at non-football events. Was at Reliant a couple of weeks ago to see Katy. It felt like I remembered. Great Stadium. JerryWorld is still fancier under the stands, and walking in is still one of the more dramatic entrances to a venue in sports, period. I still say the sightlines outside of the upper deck are outstanding.
Finally got to experience JerryWorld with everything open, and I will say that its a superior feeling to both stadiums closed and Reliant's roof being open. The breeze was damn nice, and it really made the roof feel different for whatever reason. With everything closed, it kind of reminds me of Texas Stadium. With everything open, its much more airy and felt different than Saturday when everything was closed for the high school games. Sorry, there is no way it feels like its football second. Hopefully Reliant gets the Championships next year, with a Texans game the next day so I can experience it in both modes over a 3 day weekend. |
