My decades-long horror continues about the parking lot on the right. The new track (as track was kicked out of the stadium forever) seems to have taken a little of it. But what a great spot that would be for stacking parking plus some student housing. The UW is building thousands of student beds on the upper left of the photo, but maybe they'd do more.
Typically I hate large surface lots especially in dense areas but this one is an exception. I have so many fond memories of tailgating at that lot and can't wait to get back to it next year. There's no way they will ever build on that lot, it will create an uproar amongst the fanbase. If you thought ppl were being unreasonable about losing the North Lot as a tailgating venue, just brace yourself if they ever even consider building on E1.

You know the situation better. But as land gets more scarce on campus I wouldn't be surprised if they cut it back partway.

I know they want to keep the east end zone partially open to preserve views of Lake Washington but I wish they would've made the lower bowl wrap all the way around. It would make for a more intimate atmosphere. I also hope the new west end is designed to accommodate future expansion with a upper grandstand.

Super Cool! Been to Husky a couple of time. Bringing the stadium right up to the field will be incredible for home field advantage. Great fan base already made lots of noise, but the track gave visiting teams a buffer zone. Not Any More!! Great job by the architects to give new life to this facility.

Simply awesome. Love the design. I would like if they include cool lighting into the under areas of the two sides. I would also like to see schemes where they could expand in the future

It was before the renovation.

I've never been there, I've never been to Seattle... hell, I've never even been to the PWN. But I've know Husky Stadium has the reputation of one of the best stadiums in the country, regardless of what level, because of the setting and atmosphere.

It'll just be even BETTER after it's done.

I would agree to say "one of the best atmospheres in college football ", and the view of Lake Washington and the Cascades is incredible. But the stadium itself was a bit of a dump and this "renovation" (really its just a rebuild) is sorely needed. With the athletics track, all the seats were miles away. And the old bowl was reaaaalllly crumbling. I felt like I needed a tetanus shot and a safety line for the first game I went to.

And the one thats been bugging me... How does UW get 2/3's of a sadium for $250mil while it takes the big boys $500mil for an indoor arena and over $1bil for a new football stadium? And this is even in expensive union happy Seattle...

Thats what I was wondering!^ this new stadium for only 260 million and all these dl teams pay 3 times that. Nfl though has individual seating....which requires more structure. In the other two bids to uw, the price was double. I wonder if wright runstad development group had something to do with the price being low.... The owner was on the development planning team for husky stadium.

Less than 8 month to go until the opening against Boise State!

I read on a Husky forum today that the architects looked to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh as inspiration for the renovated stadium. I hate the Steelers but I have to admit their stadium is nice and I do see some similarities especially with the large overhanging roofs and the open endzone facing the water.
