KERICHO | Ministry of Lands Building | U/C

This is one of my favorite buildings just because of how lunchin the story behind it is. As you can see 75% of it is all ready and done. But the top quarter is still under construction. I was in Kericho last year while it was being finished up and came back this year expecting to find it occupied and in use. To my surprise, i saw that they were adding more floors.

Word is that the official in charge of the building "ate" the money for 4 floors. When it came time to open the building, Lands officials were like "wtf...where's the rest of the building?" So they had to put it on hold while they finished the building. I wish I could find more info online but all i could get was an old blog post from 2010. Anyway, here are some pictures

Anyway, it's the tallest building in Kericho, even before the addition of those 4 floors.

Nice to see Kericho developing. I worked at the multinational tea company James Finlay Tea in the mid nineties and Kericho was an eyesore. Good to see some decent buildings being erected.

Actually they have added six more floors. and there are other serious developments coming up. The municipal council should wake up though. Burst sewer drainages everywhere. The town is literally turning into a dump sites of sorts.

Welcome wembe. Nice to see SSC Kenya growing and people for all over the country joining and keeping us updated...so the final building maybe 11-12flrs

yeah they've added two (i think) more floors since i posted those pics. been waiting for the right time to take an updated picture.
