777-200LR to support launch long-haul routes
Order book includes Next-Generation 737-800s and 787 Dreamliners




SEATTLE, Wash: Boeing [NYSE: BA] delivered a 777-200LR to the Republic of Iraq, marking the beginning of Boeing's renewed partnership with the country.
The airplane touched down at Baghdad International Airport on 15th December and was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute and the ceremony was attended by senior government leaders including Hadi al-Ameri, Iraqi Minister for Transportation as well as Steve Beecroft, American ambassador to Iraq.

"We are re-building our country's aviation sector and the purchase of the Boeing

777-200LR will help us begin developing the long-haul market," said His Excellency, Hadi Al Ameri, Iraqi Minister of Transportation. "This airplane has the proven capability of connecting virtually any two cities in the world non-stop in addition to carrying a full cargo payload. With its unparalleled efficiencies, the 777-200LR will be a strategic addition to the fleet."

The Republic of Iraq also has 30 Next-Generation 737-800s on order, the first of which will be delivered mid-2013, as well as 10 787 Dreamliners.

"We are proud to be part of the new beginnings of the Iraqi aviation sector and of the trust that the Republic of Iraq has placed in Boeing products," said Marty Bentrott, vice president for Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Middle East, Russia, Central Asia. "We look forward to growing and strengthening our partnership with the Republic of Iraq."

As one of the newest members of the 777 family, the 777-200LR can carry more passengers and revenue cargo farther than any other jetliner today. The 777-200LR can also carry a full cargo load on routes where other airplanes are payload limited. This gives its operators the capability to carry the same number of passengers farther and with additional revenue-generating cargo. The 777-200LR also serves as the platform for the Boeing 777 Freighter, the world's largest, most capable twin-engine freighter.

16DEC2012: First A320-200 delivered to Iraqi as it prepares Europe operations

Iraqi Airways has added a first ex-Air Berlin A320-200 originally delivered to Air Berlin on November 15 of this year. Iraqi Airways has now added the A320-200, A321-200, A330-200 and B777-200(LR) as new aircraft types to its fleet within just a few weeks as part of its preparations to resume scheduled services on routes to countries in Europe and elsewhere it was not previously able to serve until the legal settlement of first Gulf war claims with Kuwait.

Iraqi Airways will receive a second Airbus A320-200, after they have received one which is now stored at BGW.

Info about the planes:

About the one they will receive(it is stored at VIE btw), first flight was on 05-04-2012 for Niki, then leased to a random airline, back to Niki and now at VIE awaiting its Iraqi registration.

The second one.
First flight was on 08-11-2012 for Air Berling, now at BGW also awaiting its new Iraqi registration.
