Great to see speeds posted, well the cabinet outside NV buildings on The Quays now looks to be complete (whether there's anything in it yet, I don't know). But I have noticed that BT's broadband checker results now show that it'll go live with Infinity as soon as 31st December (which would match up with what the guy on the phone said, that it was in the 'December' phase). No pre-ordering yet, only Register Interest. Expected speed: 71.1Mb download, 20Mb upload! :-D

No, I've switched my line over to BT in preparation, but we've got to wait until 31st December at least until they switch it on. The box is in place, it's coming, not much longer to wait!

Salford to become 'super-fast broadband city'
Salford has been named among the latest raft of cities to benefit from the government-funded super-fast broadband networks. Chancellor George Osborne announced in his autumn statement that the Greater Manchester area is one of 12 smaller cities to receive a share of a £50m funding pot. Brighton and Hove, Cambridge, Coventry, Derby, Oxford, Portsmouth, York, Newport, Aberdeen, Perth and Londonderry were the others chosen by the government. Ten larger cities were previously selected to share a £114m million funding pot. Homes and businesses in Salford will be granted access to internet speeds of up to 100Mbps by 2015 as the coalition aims to make Britain the fastest broadband nation in Europe within the next two years. Details of how the £50m funding pot will be shared out are yet to emerge Read more at http://www.click-manchester.com/news...broadband-city. http://www.click-manchester.com |

Keep the faith, not long to go now. BT have done enough of these now that, barring an major problems, this one should be up and running in the time they quoted. The box itself has only been in for a month or so, they just need to put the kit in and switch it on! Ill wonder by this evening and see if I can hear it humming. :-)

Just as an update, I called BT today and they said they had changed their systems recently so the 31st is highly likely to be correct.
Unfortunately all this talk is hot air, we've just got to wait 21 days to find out!! Maybe buy a cheap advent calendar now to help count down the days? ;-) |

I saw your new "green cabinet" a few days ago, and yes you have definitely got the right equipment.
