Another supertall u/c! Shenzhen is like Dubai, only with better looking towers.

Looking at those render this tower reminds me a lot of the International Commerce Center being build in Chongqing. Not that it's a bad design of course.

i don't think its a nail house, they just believe demolishing it is the biggest waste of a high-rise ever.

Anyone have a photo of what was here before the redevelopment? The transformation should be impressive.

Kinda sad that they had to remove an organic most likely vibrant neighborhood to build this. Cities don't stay the same forever so change must be accepted. Interesting cluster of small buildings.

Yep, Gangxia was one of the more disappointing demolitions - it really was quite a cool area.

Luohu district also has a couple saddening projects, most notably the Shuibei neighborhood, which along with Bao'An is the oldest area of the city, a remnant of Shenzhen before it became Shenzhen.

These areas, called the inner city villages (城中村), are some of the densest places on earth. They consist of 4% of Shenzhen's total area but house over 50% of the population. They're endlessly fascinating because they're usually home to Shenzhen's migrants, people that hail from all parts of China - one of the only places you can find authentic Guangdong, Sichuan, Hunan, and Xi'An food all on one block.
