The red/white/blue plates have been in use for quite some time (since the 80s, I'd guess) although you do see the green-on-white occasionally.

Late 80's/early 90's. But you can transfer a plate from one car to another of the same type. I'm guessing that the Cayenne in question has been issued an original Spirit plate, with the embossed 'MAR' on the rear, and the front plate is a homemade plate to blend in better in Europe.

Well this is my license plate collection (Almost all of them are Indonesian, since I'm an Indonesian )

Actually owning the code BH plate is quite interesting, because BH is "bra" in Indonesian language.
Government plates:

This is the new design of Indonesian plates (since 2011):

And this are 2 license plates of a micronation (like Sealand or Seborga, if you know) called Los Bay Petros, located in Indonesia also.

Well this one's faraway from the page where I replied, Indonesian government allows foreign plates in Indonesia. Once I saw British, French, German, Singaporean, and Malaysian - plate vehicles around (but sadly I didn't have a chance to take a picture of them all)

I spotted a Slovenian plate "LJ BLOKE". Even if in NE Italy I see Slovenian plates every day, I never saw any customized combination.

Sharing this one, the Puerto Rico Euro-sized plate. The only legal euro-sized plate issued in any US jurisdiction.

How is possible that Malta introduced plates with euroband including stars in 1995 when it joined EU in 2004?
