Noticed this great new Vintage warehouse on Lucerne Street, off Lark Lane, today. It is related to 'Larks' ( vintage shop) and seems to specialise in 1950s artefacts, furniture and accessories. it is called Gasp:

I love browsing shops like that, but can't even imagine anyone actually having the stuff that they sell. It's like going into Chambre Hardman's house.

Laura's Little Bakery (formerly in The Home Quarter) has opened a pop-up shop in Cavern Walks for the Christmas period! Her cakes are delicious so I hope it is a great success!
There seems to have a been a fare few pop-up shops opening across the city recently, as I've read a pop-up department store has opened on the 2nd floor in Clayton Square! |

According to an application that has appeared on the Planning Explorer, a betting office is in the works for the former Starbucks unit on Castle Street, over the road from the Town Hall.

What a waste. No reason why it shouldn't get consent, but a shame.

A minor update to the above. The betting office operator in question is Ladbrokes.

And I was thinking how that might be a good location for Raymond Blanc - given that he has yet to sign at Mann Island.

Outrage at Ladrokes plans to open betting shop opposite Liverpool town hall
PLANS to open a betting shop opposite Liverpool town hall today caused outrage. Ladbrokes has applied for permission to convert the former Starbucks cafe on the corner of Castle Street. The firm said it will not use its standard signs and the £170,000 re-fit will be done “sensitively”. It said the shop will also create seven new jobs. But councillors and heritage campaigners today said such a use for the empty shop is an “affront to the city’s civic dignity”. Wayne Colquhoun, of Liverpool Preservation Trust, said that in years gone by Castle Street was one of the city’s most prestigious streets. He said the town hall had survived a number of attacks and a huge fire since it was built in 1754. He said: “I fear this is the most serious threat to the integrity of an area – a city allowing a bookies next to one of its most endearing and monumental tokens of its history, its town hall. “I would place a bet odds-on that the citizens of Liverpool would class this attempt to bring down the area, the Castle Street conservation area in a World Heritage Site, as an affront to their civic dignity and be up in arms about it.” In 1775 the Grade I-listed town hall survived after seamen fired cannons at it during a protest about a reduction in their wages. It was badly damaged in a serious fire in 1795. And in 1881 it had a lucky escape when an Irish Republican group attempted to blow up the building. Is Speke still trading? I wonder if Currys in Speke might relocate to the Comet unit as the Currys store in Speke is VERY tired inside - looks like something from the 80s! I know there were plans to create a couple of 2 storey stores in the Currys unit and Currys having just one of them, trading on 2 floors (explaining why their store interior hasnt been updated). Anyone know if thats still going ahead? Also be interesting to see if the separate PCWorld half a mile down the road survives long term as Currys seems to be consolidating the brands into one store in many cases.

I came across this unit on Queen Avenue ( off Castle Street) today, selling fine wines. He has been open for five weeks apparently:

Although not explicity stating it, the Design & Access Statement available here (requires .pdf), for several reasons, suggests that this will be a Tesco.

The new 'Lush Spa' on Whitechapel opens today! It is the company's largest spa so far! Got to say judging by the photo they've done a great job and it is a vast improvement on what was there previously!

It's good to see the empty lots in Keys Court filling back up again.
