You must have been sifting through threads for ages to choose somewhere to put your first post - you bumped one from nearly a year ago! Welcome nevertheless..

Where would the Three Spires fit into this? If it's to the right of the Shard, how much of the gap between the Shard and The City would it fill?

I took your survey but had a problem with question 8:

Quote:
8) Within London what type of buildings do you prefer?

traditional historical
Modern contemporary
My problem is that I don't have a preference and I suspect a very large number don't: in my opinion the only buildings I like are good ones, style doesn't come into it!

New York and Chicago are hardly representative of most of America's skylines. Both cities are unusual in having huge numbers of downtown residential highrises. Most American cities have far smaller (but dense) centres with LA being a particularly extreme case.

that's very true, but the same could be said for London- nothing like it in Britain.

Wow, London's skyline will look great in the future - definitely Europe's Manhattan

Is there any chance of the City and Canary Wharf's skyline merging into one in the future?

Unlikely. You'd never get any need for 40 storey plus towers in residential and historical Limehouse or Wapping

It's more interesting having the separate clusters IMO. One big mass of tall buildings just turns us into yet another canyon city, which is very boring... Small clusters act like focal points drawing interest, hugely preferable I think.

London skyline

Forest Hill is good, but I find Sydenham Hill is better - near the allotments on the far side towards Dulwich Golf Club House and the scout training camp. Know it? However it may be from the 7th floor of the flats, you get a better view....I have not been up..

Stratford could be a cluster in its own right in a few years time.
