If you look at the render at Tumbalong Park below the tree line to the right there seems to be some kind of feature. Unfortunately the current water features creates an artificial divider in the area. That is not so useful now that the area is more business oriented rather than the former theme-park like Sega World complex.

So that's potentially 5 towers of moderate height.

![]() Looks like it from the image. lots of new apartments and student accom in Haymarket.... "Attainable city apartment living, targeted at young professionals and students, with up to 1,400 apartments and accommodation for 1,000 students. Construction of The Haymarket will start in early 2014. The existing Entertainment Centre will close in late 2015. The new neighbourhood will open in stages through to the early 2020s." |

Love it. The ICC and the new Entertainment Centre look awesome.
I also quite like the new hotel towers, at first glance. The best thing about this plan though is its contribution to a precinct with efforts to energise the public realm, improve public spaces, provide student accommodation and residential apartments, shops, restaurants, bars etc. This is all currently missing from the site (and much of Darling Harbour in general). Great to see the dots being connected. At first glance looks like we may have as many as 4 towers over 100m. The hotel and the three apartment buildings at the southern end.

And with the Imax development and Barangaroo starting at the end of King Street Wharf Darling Harbour will be amazing. Such an embarrassment at the moment. All we need is the Western Distributer put underground or built over!

Pics from SMH. They are also saying the Hotel will be 35 stories. One of those new resi towers looks similar in height to The Peak apartments. Some much needed additional height is about to pop up in the southern CBD.

The area around Pier Street is such a needed change. It currently is such a wasteland of vacant, rundown, underutilised space and parking. There also seems to be a large symmetrical garden that runs under the Pier Street overpass which looks to complement the existing Chinese Gardens.

Cul we need you to do some scaling work!
The taller of the hotels definitely appears to be over 100m, as does the taller of the apartment towers (similar height to UTS Tower?) Also, recent reports have commented on Sydney's need for a second outdoor performance space akin to The Domain. Tumbalong Park seems like a logical place for such a space - perhaps even more so than Barangaroo Central.

Tumbalong Park already serves that function but with a capacity of only 2,000 it is way too small as a secondary Domain. Events at the Domain have had 50,000.

![]() Yep now hopefully one of SOM and BIG (and their partners) wins the masterplanning contract for Barangaroo Central! The list upwards posted on the previous page suggests Tumbalong Park will be expanded to accommodate events of up to 25,000. From memory, this exceeds what was called for in the 'Planning Sydney's Cultural Facilities' report.

Phoawwww! Look at those towers in those locations!! The nimbys will go totally balistic. So much for the 50m Disneyland rule in Haymarket held onto by this ridiculous Sydney clowncil. This totally fcks that over, as it should!
Good stuff. A pity that the views across to the heritage wool stores will be blocked but so be it. Bring it on! |

I so excited! I only hope that they have given some consideration to Darling Drive. I hope that it is not turning its back to it like the current facilities but embracing it. This is where many of the visitors will be coming from after all since the light rail stops are located here

Looks fantastic, and is a significant expansion of the skyline, and helps to join the gap between Frasers Broadway and the World Tower.
