EasyJet set to sign first codeshare in its history on new London-Moscow route

EasyJet is set to agree the first codeshare in its history, after being awarded the rights to operate between London and Moscow.
The low-cost carrier said negotiations would now start with Russian airline, Transaero, following the ruling by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

EasyJet beat off competition from Virgin Atlantic to operate 14 weekly flights from London, in a CAA scarce capacity review.

The flights became available following British Airways’ takeover of bmi earlier this year.

The CAA ruled that BA could continue to run the services they currently operate from London Heathrow to Moscow Domodedovo and granted easyJet permission to operate between Gatwick and Domodedovo.

In its formal decision, the CAA said both Virgin and easyJet had provided evidence that they could “reach a commercial agreement with the second designated Russian carrier” – a condition of operating the route.

Asked if easyJet had agreed terms with Transaero, a spokeman for the airline said: “Not yet, but we have a letter from Transaero saying that, in principle, they are happy to work through a commercial agreement with us. We will now start negotiations with them.”

EasyJet are expected to begin operating services to Moscow from early 2013. The CAA understands that BA will continue with its current schedule.

EasyJet will operate an Airbus A320 with two services a day between Gatwick and Moscow.

The airline estimates it will fly more than 230,000 passengers on the route in its first year of operations.

Rossiya finished phase out of B737-500

As in january 2012 announced, Rossiya retired the B737-500 from service. It was told the five a/c will be replaced by three A319 and six An-148. Since Rossiya is controlled by Aeroflot, the airline refused to add additional An-148, furthermore, the 737-500 was completly replaced by A319.

New a/c in Rossiyas fleet 2012:
EI-ETN, EI-ETO, EI-ETP, EI-EYL, EI-EYL and EI-EYR (A320).

It will be interesting what will happen with the An-148.

Soon Aeroflot Group will start to receive its 50 Boeing planes order, some of them will go to Rossiya. In total there will be Boeing 737-700-15 planes, Boeing 737-800-25 planes, Boeing 737-900ER-10 planes.

I know, first I thought there NGs will replace the second hand B737 classis of Donavia, Orenair and so on, that's why I don't understand why the subsideries are equiped with further second hand A319. From my point of view, it would make sense to operate only A320 family or B737 for each subsidery, not mixed.

Any information how many 737NG FV will get?

The airlines of S7 Group will transport about 9,5 million passengers in 2013. It was declared by the CEO of S7 Airlines, Vladimir Obyedkov. AEX.ru

«We intend to transport about 8.3 million passengers in 2012. At that, the forecasted passenger traffic for 2012 was around 8 million passengers. We plan to transport about 9.5 – 9.6 million passengers in 2013», - Obyedkov said.

The passenger traffic of S7 Group will increase by around 25.6% in 2012 as compared to the last year.

Transaero starting 31MAR13 is transferring Moscow – New York JFK service from Domodedovo to Vnukovo. This means all Transaero’s North America service will be operating to/from Vnukovo Airport only, as service to Los Angeles, Miami and Toronto also moves Vnukovo.
