When looking at the map at especially Huamu I don't think that it is possible.
Huamu is just too out of place with too suburban planning.
Zhengru is located in an industrial area.

I can only see potential in Wujiaochang which already is somewhat of a center in the area. The planning is quite urban and is already quite crowded.
The only downside is that it's too far from the downtown, it is a bit disconnected with downtown Shanghai while Xujiaohui basically is IN the downtown.
Wujiaochang is also a bit too small and is surrounded by a bit sleepy neighborhoods.

What do you think?
I read from newspaper that different city sub-centers have various focus and characters. Huamu is designed to be a high-end eco-friendly sub-centers.

Look at the newly-opened Kerry Center, Himalaya Center, high-end hotels (I lived in that area 1st hlaf this year), accompanied with the Exhibition Center, Century Park, it's almost a perfect place to live in and have fun around.

But Huamu is hardly a destination were people go to have fun or shop.

What's your opinion on Wujiaochang? Have you been there? The new Xujiahui? Too far away from the center?

I guess sub-centers are created to serve surrounding areas. Besides the new Kerry Center is quite good, imo comparable with 久光 of Jing'an Temple. Of course it still needs time to be fully recognized.

Its a shame I've never been to Wujiaochang but I heard its developing quite fast. Xujiahui is already one of the city centers. It can only get better when Xujiahui Center is built.

Are there any photos from the sub-centers that you mentioned on SSC? I don't think I've actually been to any of them.

Currently the Only subsenter worth visiting is Wujiaochang as its the most developed and has the biggest potential. It has the potential to become the best Xujiahui. The ably thing is that it's too fat from the city center.

Pansori, just search for the name on Google and some pictures will show up.

Drink time at Bar Rouge. This is a famous Shanghai establishment located on the roof of a historic building and overviewing the panorama of Pudong on the other side of Huangpu River. I didn't have time to visit other rooftop bars but that is an objective for next time I'll drop in SH

Pictures may turn out a little blurry from the Maglev train...

Top speed lasts just for a minute or two. It is, however, a very very cool experience. Gliding at this speed on the ground is very fascinating indeed. My only wish is that they extend the line to Hongqiao station

T2 departures. As should be expected it's huge and spacious. There is free wi-fi internet as well as free Internet terminals for public use

Thank you for staying till the end big-dog. I now turn the first page and it almost makes me cry how much I wish I was in Shanghai now and walking the same places. It's such a big fun to just hop on the metro, go to a place I had never been before and make a photo trip out of that. It's still so much sightseeing I would have to do in Shanghai despite spending full 10 days doing nothing but walking around and exploring different locations.

But you still seem to like Guangzhou and Shenzhen even more, don't you?

I wouldn't say it in a strict manner. Shenzhen is certainly better for living conditions and convenience (being right next to Hong Kong means alot too) but overall I would not really exclude any of the first-tier cities as being my favorite. There are very strong reasons in support of each one of them. For living, however, I would not hesitate much and choose Shenzhen.
