Kinda confusing for me. I'm thinking that this project will be done in phases with the first phase being the current construction of the commercial centre while the hotel will be built in a later phase.
i think it will be a series of buildings a hotel, shopping mall and office though i don't think they have the money to build them all at once or even build all of them at all.

Challenge Tanzania's skyline? hahaha

How tall is Britam tower? i thought it was just 30 floors?

I mean yea Uganda is also growing and once oil money starts pumping full in its treasury we can start seeing mega project going on in the country Kingdom Kampala is a teaser for the good things coming...

Britam is 30floors, being built on a hill and will have a wind turbine on top making it a very tall building that will stand out in nairobi's skyline

I think it's safe to say that Dar es salaam has the tallest skyline in east Africa by now and will remain to have it because of 4, 30-40 story towers by 2015, also having a landmark bridge completed in 2015.

the render of the hotel is what the hotel will look like the other render is of the shopping mall , this project isnt a hotel its a complex including a hotel, shopping mall office etc so yes it is being built in phases.

4 towers alone don't make a skyline ...
Nairobi has 2 towers over 30 floors, 1 over 30 floors under construction with several other 30+ proposed, 1 over 40 floors under construction one proposed over 50 floors, 1 proposed over 60 floors and 1 proposed over 70 floors. And unlike the ugly concrete boxes that have recently sprung up in Dar, all of Nairobi's new towers are glassy modern shining jewels (compare Upperhill with Upanga or Westlands with Kijitonyama and you'll see what am talking about), anyway, the bottom line is, Nairobi has more towers over 20 floors than the rest of EAC combined, despite the rapid growth in Dar in the past decade, it's skyline is still way behind Nairobi's. You should also note that though Dar had more towers over 20 floors constructed in the 2001-2010 decade than Nairobi (I guess all of Dar's 20+ floors were constructed in the past decade), Nairobi is set for a bigger boom in this 2011-2020 decade and will probably lead in the number of highrises erected in the region.

I am wondering, how somebody can read the advertisment of Kngiht Frank? I don't know any way somebody can see it without being inside the compound.

I think the second design is far better than the first. The first one might have tempted Ugandans to wish it materialises but it was frankly speaking a bad design. And i think the second makes better economic sense than the first as the second building is likely to be more stable structurely due to its shorter height, the cost of construction will be lower and more shopping space will be created which I think is needed in Kampala than a hotel since there is enough competetion in the hotel business. Kampalans (i guess this is the correct demonymn for those dwelling there), should not be in a hurry for high rises which may after all not beautify the skyline if not well designed architecturally.

They are different locations of the same project. Go back to the first page of this thread.
