Hussainsagar dredging work initiated

As part of a year-long initiative to get rid of pollutants from Hussain Sagar Lake, dredging work at the water body was initiated on Friday.
Sediments
The massive exercise launched by the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, will help to scoop out sediments to the tune of 10 lakh cubic metre from the confluence points of four inlets of the lake.
The dredging of sediments at three inlets, Balkapur nala, Picket nala and Banjara nala, has started while the work on Kukaptally nala confluence point will be initiated at a later date since sediments here were found to be hazardous.
JICA
One of the major aspects of the Hussainsagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project, the exercise would have the dredged out sediments dried and shifted to existing quarry pits at Jawaharnagar dump yard.
The lake, which has been polluted due to untreated sewage and industrial effluents generated in the catchment of 240 square km through the four inlets, is being restored with the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the tune of Rs. 370 crore.
Apart from dredging work, the Chief Minister on Friday also launched the ‘Clean Hussainsagar’ campaign, commissioning of upgraded tertiary level 20 MLD STP at Khairatabad and the 1400 mm Balanagar sewer main.
Reuse of water
The STP has been upgraded to the tertiary level and according to HMDA officials, the treated water would be processed for ultra-filtration by membranes procured from Australia.
The water then gets disinfected of pathogenic bacteria to achieve a quality, which the officials described would be fit for reuse, for non-potable purposes.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, the Chief Minister called for a concerted effort involving all stakeholders to clean Hussainsagar Lake.
Efforts are on to clean and restore several other smaller water bodies in the city and tough action is in store for those taking up illegal constructions alongside them, he said.
In his address, Labour Minister D. Nagender said the HMDA should not remain mute in issues that threaten the lake and cautioned senior officials of action in case they failed to take steps needed to protect the water body

Does that mean Commerzone is different from mindspace...so in that case both work is going on simultaneously...
any update on both the projects.

The condition of the lake in this area looks terrible. It is unbelievable how a Govt. and people could let this happen. Using STPs to clean the water and then letting it into the lake is not the best plan IMO. The STPs should treat the nala water and let the treated water into the nala downstream which is in a pathetic condition at the present time and a major source of disease (chikkadpalli nala).

The lake should be emptied slowly and replenished using Godavari water initially. That way the lake will be fully clean again. Then on a year to year basis rain water and the natural stream water along with Godavari water can maintain the lake level, as required. Industrial effluents and sewer water should never again be allowed into Tankbund. This was done once before to my knowledge (similar plan).

The same applies to the musi river. The city should implement 100% underground sewage and get rid of the dirty nalas. This is the 21 st century, not the middle ages. Building tall buildings and IMaxs means nothing if basic civic amenities are not provided.

Thanks

In the sixties during summer vacations I and my freinds used to swim in Hussainsagar lake. Some daring to go up to the rock of gibraltor as the stone where the buddha statues stands was called.fish used to be in abundance and the water clear. After good swim we used have fresh fried fish and kababs from the kiosks which used to do roaring business in the evenings. There were no ganesh idols processions and immersions in to the lakes.Hussainsagar lake water is to be supplied to the landscape gardens in the OU campus thru pipelines passing thru ashoknagar, chikkadpally, charminar chowrastha, adikmet.Up to the middle of forties hussainsagar lake was a source for drinking water.I pray that this lake should be restored to atleast 50% of its state existed in the sixties.

Raheja vistas is the Residential component of 3 towers each having G+10 floors on 3.85 acre land in the middle of the site (See the master plan, See page#17 in the brochure). Raheja vistas is part of Commerzone IT park coming up @ Nacharam. My guess is that these residential towers would be surrounded by IT office buildings as and when completed eventually. However, I am not sure of area of the entire plot including Raheja vistas and Commerzone IT park.

Just came across brochure of Raheja's Quiescent heights' residential standalone tower (G+11 Floors), right next to Westin@ Mind space, Madhapur.

The total size is around 26 acres. Not sure when they will start work on their IT buildings but there is some controversy about industrial land being used for residential purposes according to this article

I think they can use 40% of the area for other activities in an IT Park. Even Prajay had a IT park project here. Guess they scrapped it.

good news for most

Hyderabad best place to own property, says study

Real estate business in the State Capital has taken a beating due to various factors including global downturn and the separate Telangana agitation, but the downtrend has a positive aspect too.

Hyderabad, according to a study conducted by Artha Yantra, integrated personal finance services company, has projected the city as the best place for those aspiring to buy a home. The study spanning seven major cities Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata besides Hyderabad revealed that the State capital gives highest value for money in purchase of average sq.ft for every lakh of rupees as compared to other cities.

Hyderabad, where buyers get 26.57 sq.ft every lakh of rupees, is followed by Pune while Delhi and Mumbai offer the least area. Artha Yantra, the firm promoted by Indian School of Business pass outs, has deployed its proprietary Buy vs Rent Score (ABRS) that not only helps in assessing rental and property values but aids users in deciding whether to rent or buy a house in any given city.

The buy rent ratio, according to Artha Yantra, has been designed to explain the additional monthly payment to be made in case of ownership compared to renting. The average out of pocket cost for renting a home in the city is estimated at Rs. 11,438 and Rs. 34,288 in case of owning it. This would in turn mean aspirants who want to own a house in Delhi and Mumbai need to spend three times more than what they spend in Hyderabad for the same area. “Hyderabad is the cheapest city to buy out a home offering largest living area for every Rs. 1 lakh spent,” the study said.

The city accordingly has been ranked first as the most affordable place for a professional either to buy or rent a property while Mumbai was placed seventh in both the scores. Along with Pune, Hyderabad offers larger residential space and provides a better lifestyle.

The ABRS score revealed that Hyderabad has moderately high rental values, making buying a better option than opting for rent. It placed professionals in three categories – Rs. 8 to 9 lakh salary, Rs. 10 to 12 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh and above. While the first category professionals are advised to opt for rent and the second category had been described as neutral zone where buyers could afford houses with small changes in lifestyle. The third category professionals can straight away go for purchasing the property. In contrast, the study reveals that it is better to rent a property than buying in Bangalore.

Corroborating the study is the National Housing Board of India Residential Index which shows that Hyderabad among other cities had registered a 15 per cent decline in the property values since 2007 as compared to Delhi, Mumbai and Pune where the value saw a close to 100 per cent increase. The real estate values in Bangalore, however, remained stable during the period.

Hyderabad is the cheapest city to buy a home offering largest living area for every Rs. 1 lakh spent and provides a better lifestyle, says a study

Quote:
KENDRAPADA: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has decided to lay a 1200-km oil pipeline from Paradip to Hyderabad passing through Visakhapatnam, IOCL executive director (eastern division) H S Pati said in Paradip recently.

The IOCL plans to expand its pipeline network by more than 10,000-km in the coming years. The capacity of the pipeline network would increase by about 50 Million Metric Tonne Per Annum ( MMTPA), Pati said. The oil corporation is also setting up two more (Single Point Moorings) SPMs in Paradip port at an investment of Rs 1,493 crore.

Yeah I guess so too, it was recently barricaded. Are highrises allowed in this part of Banjara Hills ?

Also cladding on Kapil Towers is progressing nicely. Can't wait to see it finished
