PRR Promising... but
PRR news after a very very long time. Project was supposed to start in 2007 itself but never took off. Hopefully, with this new land swap formula, things will progress. IMHO, this and Metro rail are the most critical projects for Bangalore.
Metro rail will take care of the commuting inside the city core areas whereas this will decongest the peripheral areas and also provide access to the airport. Quote:

PRR - Phase I should set a new bench mark , which was earlier set by Hyderabad ORR. will it be executed by BDA alone, or else any Tenders would be called for private parties to execute the project Like L&T, NCC, Gammon , Jaypee ...... Hoping BDA or any other Party will use this opportunity to set a new Bench Mark. |

Looks like BDA has learnt nothing from the past!! again only grade separators and no interchanges! So there will be signal at grade for other roads. They need to change their attitude toward work.

![]() Was just looking at the pic below. Really can't make much of it but looks like a proper 4 looped clover interchange at DB Pura Rd, Bellary Rd, Hennur Rd, OMR and Anekal Rd. I hope they do it that way. They also MUST have a proper 4 loop clover interchange at Tumkur Rd and Hosur Rd.

Guys, any idea whether the stretch b/w Tumkur Road and Bellary road will pass through the IVC road or will it be anywhere close to it?

Yet another Government Order
Yet another Government order/approval for the PRR. If you put the number of government order/approval news items, it will cover the entire 62 kms proposed PRR stretch.
http://www.deccanherald.com/content/...ovt-okays.html ---- The State government has finally issued the an order to execute the long-pending project of constructing the 65- kilometer Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) on the outskirts of Bangalore. However, no time frame has been set for its completion, despite being delayed by nearly eight years. The Government Order has made a few changes, including, truncating of the width of the PRR stretch from 100 meter to 75 meter. According to sources, the 25 meter-stretch, which has been left out from the construction of the PRR, will be utilised for hi-tech zoning. “We are going to have the option of making this hi-tech zoning, instead of a separate two- kilometer stretch which was envisaged earlier,” an official said. Currently, as per Comprehensive Development Plan 2015, the floor area ratio in hi-tech zones is two times to 3.25 times the extent of the land on roads that are 12 metre to 30 metre wide. Confirming the issue of the GO, T Sham Bhatt, Commissioner, Bangalore Development Authority told Deccan Herald: “We are now working out the modalities of compensating farmers and other land losers,” he said. The meeting between the BDA top brass and the State government held 15 days ago came out with three options to compensate the farmers. “The first option is to give them developed land, on either side of the PRR, in the ratio of 60:40 as decided under the Town Planning module. This would mean that for every acre of land, the farmer will get 9,583 sq ft of developed land. The other option would be to give them cash compensation. However, we are yet to arrive at a possible number for giving the compensation,” Bhatt said. The deputy commissioner for the respective regions will decide upon the compensation amount, he added. The third option which the BDA is contemplating is issuing transfer of development rights (TDR) in respect of properties acquired. Meanwhile, the BDA will reissue pre-tender qualification notification for the project as the nine bidders who qualified for the project earlier cannot be considered on account of procedural delays. Sources state that the request for qualification of the nine bidders has become null and void as it is over three months since it was accepted by the BDA. The BDA commissioner however stated that it will be up to the State government on who will develop this particular stretch, as the project will be cleared at the Cabinet level due to high cost involved.

Can't the BDA/BBMP widen the old NH 209 from Devanahalli-Hosakote-Sarjapur instead of a PRR?

In the last 5-6 years, NHAI has done more for Blr infrastructure than BDA ( Hosur road, Tumkur road, and Bellary road ). BDA has been struggling to finish a few flyovers on ORR. |

Hosur Road is not properly planned though with just 2 lanes & a straight stretch creating chaos below. What about Kanakapura Road NH ? Hoskote NH 4 ? Mysore Road qualified to be a NH but the state had to spend money to make it world class. Bellary road had to be done by 2008 & its 5 years after the airport opened that the road work is still on. |

Mysore Road: Already world class thanks to KRDCL. Hosakote: Six lane from TC Palya and 4 lane till Mulbagal. Bellary Road was six laned under EPC by NHAI from Hebbal to Devanahalli+Devanahalli bypass back in 2008. The expressway came up later. What about the state? The same HSR on the same corridor didn't even take off. Anyway, let's not fight over this. I know that in Maharashtra, MSRDC does NH stretches under BOT, why not the same in KA? And where is Hosur Road 2 lanes? It is 2+2+6+2+2 lanes wide from CBS to Electronics City. |

Over and above all this, did you know that BDA washed its hands-off PRR in 2008 and tried to push it to NHAI? It came back to BDA only after NHAI rejected to implement it. http://www.business-standard.com/art...0301025_1.html http://bangalorebuzz.blogspot.in/200...da-claims.html |

Agree with rsrikanth and others about NHAI. In order of project execution speed/efficiency in Bangalore, it would be NHAI>BDA>BBMP.
No one can beat the BBMP when it comes to shoddy and terrible execution. BBMP needs to be abolished. They can't do a thing right. |
