No, I'm talking about the last picture.. If you see, Empire Eights Tower is just there. So its not where the signature towers would be.

I'm glad they are finally investing in some proper theme parks - something they should have done many years ago!

The renders are a bit weird and things are not exactly where they should be....

Agreed!

The Dubai Mall also appears to be on the wrong side of the road. All very confusing in that picture!

Mega project announcements leave Dubai business community unsure what to think

Failed projects

That said investors in the now abandoned City of Arabia along the Emirates Road would like to know what has happened to their world beating mall project, the Mall of Arabia. Ditto those who invested in the Al Bawadi project that included the world’s largest hotel, now seemingly subsumed into the MBR City’s 100 hotels.

But in a world where the global international banks now longer have money to invest in any project that crosses their desk, where will all the money come from? Emaar can issue sukuk. But only in relatively modest amounts, and certainly not the $16 billion or more needed to complete the MBR City. Local banks are also now under strict lending restrictions from the UAE Central Bank.

Who invested in Bawadi? It was a hotel only project. Nothing was ever launched.

As for MoA, I am guessing it will be transformed into Mall of the World.

Dubai is set to break its own record for the world's biggest shopping mall with plans for a new mega-development complete with a shopping centre that could welcome 80 million people a year.

The new 'city' will cost £1.7 billion and is set to boast up to 100 hotels, five distinct theme parks based on films, animals and characters from brands all over the world.

Universal Studios will host an attraction and there will also be a Bollywood theme park, staging musicals aimed at attracting Indian visitors and enriching Dubai's cultural calendar.

Mohammed bin Rashid City, named after the emirate's ruler, will be located just outside the city's current Downtown area.

It will also have a water and marine life park that can host 16 million visitors annually, a children's theme park dedicated to safaris and adventures in the desert, plus museums and art galleries.

The huge shopping complex will overtake the Dubai Mall as the largest in the world and will aptly be called the Mall of the World. It will be surrounded by a public green area expected to be 30 per cent larger than London's Hyde Park.

The plan is to start work immediately and have the first phase of the project complete in 2014.

Sheikh Mohammed said: 'The current facilities available in Dubai need to be scaled up in line with the future ambitions for the city.'

He confirmed the city's goal is to become 'the capital of entrepreneurship, arts, culture and family tourism for over 2 billion people.'

Abdulla Ahmed Mohammed Al Habbai, chairman of Meraas Holding, the company behind the development, said: 'The new initiative comes in response to Dubai's status as a top global touristic destination which will contribute to the growth of the economy.'

He added: 'We expect the comprehensive offering to set a new benchmark within the leisure and entertainment industry and offer tourists one more reason to visit Dubai.'

Dubai was hit hard by the worldwide recession. Its saturated property market collapsed and ambitious projects, such as 'The World', a man-made set of islands shaped like the continents of the globe, were abandoned.

But after investing heavily in tourism and attracting additional visitors from rival destinations due to the Arab Spring, the emirate has reported 13 per cent growth in annual visitor numbers.

Dubai announces residential project, 1st in MBR City

DUBAI | Sun Dec 9, 2012 7:34am EST

Dec 9 (Reuters) - Dubai developer Emaar Properties and an arm of Dubai Holding, the ruler's conglomerate, launched the first project in a planned multi-billion dollar flagship development on Sunday - a complex of luxury residences and a golf course.

Dubai Hills will be part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid (MBR) City, the mega tourism and retail development project announced by the emirate in November, Emaar and Dubai Holding said in a joint statement.

The project's villas, each to be built on plots of 20,000 to 30,000 square feet, would be designed around a new 18-hole championship course to be developed by world golf course experts, it said.

The statement provided no information on the number of villas, the value or the time frame for completion of the project.

MBR city is also expected to include 100 hotels and the world's biggest shopping mall.

Dubai has recently begun to announce big projects and revive some earlier plans that had been shelved following the collapse of its property markets.

Dubai Holding's real estate arm, Dubai Properties, had previously planned to develop Tiger Woods Dubai, a residential and golf course project, in conjunction with the former world number one golfer, but shelved the project in January 2011.

The average apartment price in Dubai rose by 13 percent this year and is expected to grow at the same rate next year as speculative buyers prop up demand, a study released on Sunday showed. (Reporting by Praveen Menon; editing by Jane Baird)

Looks like it's going to be the entire bottom half of the project:

My guess is that Mall of the World will be circular pink ring surrounding the main geometric section of the park.

Nah not so big? it would be 8 times bigger than Dubai Mall! 8 times! You will not do a shopping day but a week ...

I think it is on the left where the red red part is.

Blah, Blah. Blah

Blah, blah, blah is the correct name of the project. Don't invest a finger nail into the country.
