Amazing. It already seems sturdy and aged. Very interesting.

It's coming along nicely!I had seen this amazing project on TV months ago, that's a very interesting initiative & I have lots of admiration for those people as it really is a fastidious challenge to build a medieval castle using ancient techniques...well done guys, & keep up with the good work!

Is your project based on any specific medieval castle?

No, it's an imaginary castle, based on the architecture of the castles of Philip II of France (Philippe Auguste), late 12th century.

How can these works be done without observing modern standards of work safety?

For sake, you just don't manipulated sludge like that. It can kill a worker or severely burn this limbs - for instance. If you can't (and shouldn't!) do that on an Arcelor smelter, why can you do it in the French countryside?

Also, I spot workers doing jobs under unstable roof without helmets. And workers manipulating sharp objects without gloves. Many industrial safety violations.

I find the whole thing on the kitsch side. But let it be (if the dangerous elements of such work are removed).

Great thread and a very interesting project this.

its lovely too see so many people really putting their backs into preserving the Middle age history and in the process also sharing it with other.

And middle age architecture is very beautiful and interesting

Nicely done. Good idea to try and recreate those times! Love medieval times!

Interesting. I wonder what kind of cement/mortar they use, since originally there were different methods for that. But the wall looks as it supposed to with rough core with mixed stone and ashlar blocks on the outside.

I hope they only get the illnesses of the 13th century while building this. What if they get AIDs or something modern? Do they get kicked out of the crew?
