Its Confirmed that KCC Mall de Zamboanga will be having 4-6 Cinemas and merong Basement, lalabas na parang 4-5 Storeys ang building kung bibilangin kasali ang basement floors. (Source City Engineers Office) although hindi ko pa na confirm kung 2 basement Floors talaga.

Mayor Turns over Health Center in Ayala

Constantly intensifying its infrastructure program and eventually accelerating health services, the City Government through Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday inaugurated and turned over a newly-constructed health center in barangay Ayala.

The health center worth P2.38 million is a commitment fulfilled by Mayor Lobregat, who pledged during one of his visits to barangay Ayala to establish a barangay health center to look into the medical needs of the constituents.

Lobregat said the construction of health and wellness centers and other health facilities is consistent with the city’s vision of “Un Ciudad sin Enfermedad” with the ultimate goal of accelerating health services to barangay folk.

Physician from ZamPen awarded Outstanding Achievement in Community-Projects

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec. 11 -- A former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist from Zamboanga City took home the Special Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community-Projects.

Dr. Orlando Pansi Paber was chosen among the 34 contenders from other regions during the National Awards Ceremony of the Search for Model OFW Family of the Year Award (MOFYA) held on December 6 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, CCP Complex, Pasay City.

Regional Director Hassan Jumdain said that Dr. Paber who represented the region, worked for nine years at the Dammam Central Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. From his earnings abroad, he invested in purchasing equipment for his clinic which he maintains and upgrades to better serve his patients.

MOFYA which is an annual activity of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) was first conceptualized in 2003. It fetes the exemplary performance of OFWs who properly harnessed the financial gains of overseas employment and maintained strong family ties despite difficulties in migration.

He helped the marginalized fisher folks who are overly dependent on marine resources for livelihood including the Badjaos, who acquire cataract problem due to extreme sunlight exposure. Among the areas directly benefited by his free cataract surgeries are the provinces of Zamboanga, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.

Driven by his strong desire to help the indigent, he has received various awards and recognition for his active civic involvement in the community.

His family was conferred as 1998 Model Family Awardee by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

Multiple awards were received from LIONS Club International for services done in eye surgery of indigent cases. In 2001, he was awarded Model Citizen of Brgy. Guiwan.

Dr. Paber, who is also a part of the Tzu Chi Foundation, performs cataract surgeries to patients who are deprived of better living conditions. This unfailing participation in Medical Outreach Missions was recognized by his colleagues in Zamboanga Medical Society.

He was a nominee for most outstanding physician in year 2000, a two time awardee through the “Resolution” of Lamitan Sangguniang Bayan for “Sight First Operation”.

Brgy Talisayan, Labuan get over P8-M projects

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec. 10 (PIA) - - Far off barangays Labuan and Talisayan get “development upgrade” as the city government, headed by Mayor Celso Lobregat, recently turned over and inaugurated over P8-million worth of infrastructure projects in these areas.

“The city recently inaugurated and turned over four infrastructure projects worth P8.1 million—three of which are located in barangay Labuan and one in Talisayan," said Sheila Covarrubias, City Information Officer (IO) in a press statement.

“Barangay Talisayan got a newly rehabilitated day-care center worth P627,243.55 while Labuan now boasts of a government complex where barangay folks can transact business and avail of the services from government,” Covarrubias said.

“The government complex is an area acquired by the city government for the construction of the three important infrastructures—the two-storey barangay hall worth P4.2 million; the center for elderly worth P1.27 million and the fire station worth P2.06 million,” Covarrubias said.

She said the infra projects were turned over to Labuan barangay council headed by Chairman Roland Maravillas.

Covarrubias also enumerated other projects being undertaken in Labuan such as the rehabilitation/ improvement of two-storey four- classroom building at the Ramon Enriquez High School, construction of two-storey eight-classroom builidng at the Ramon Enriquez High School and the rehabilitation/ improvement of the HE building at the Labuan Central School.

“Up for bidding are two projects pertaining to the rehabilitation/ improvement of covered court at Labuan and the construction of river wall at Purok 2,” she ended. (JPA/FDM-PIA ZBST)

Cacao barangay hall unveiled

The far flung barangay of Cacao in the east coast now sports a new barangay hall which is expected to accelerate and improve delivery of services to the people.

Mayor Celso Lobregat officially turned over the project to the barangay residents headed by Chairman Rito de la Cruz, who expressed delight to the gift—an imposing edifice which will henceforth be used for all barangay transactions and activities.

Costing P1.966 million, the project is originally entitled construction and improvement of the multi-purpose hall of Cacao undertaken by the Sky-J Construction firm.
