The plan is impressive but currently, only 3 lines are active. 4 if we include The PNR Orange Line which is more a commuter rail than metro.

If he wants to take credit for something, maybe the decline of all the great heavy rail developments of the previous administration? Make him a nice award if he likes.

To tkdwarriors2

Question, is this proposed card system similar to the Ez-link card system in Singapore, where you just tap the card on the sensor? Can this card be topped up?

However, most systems do accept contactless card, which is fairly similar in technology and its purposes such as the EZ-Link (Singapore) or the Touch n Go (Kuala Lumpur). Rightfully, the proposed new system for your city, should be very similar to these examples in my city (KL), in Singapore or Hong Kong. They are pretty standard

The contactless fare collection system should be implemented right away. I rode MRT last Tuesday from a not so crowded station (Boni Station, Mandaluyong) during a non-rush hour period (1030AM), and it took almost 10 minutes to purchase a ticket! As a result, I missed one train that had arrived in the station a minute earlier, and had to wait for the next one that arrived within 5 minutes (also full, but not as crowded during rush hour).
Aside from the contactless collection, they should offer NFC (near field communication) for Smartphones with wallet/passbook features.
