Hey! A quick view of history. I just wanna share this. I found this in a book in our school's library. It is a route map of Air Manila International, Filipinas Orient Airways and Philippine Airlines back in 1965

It's quite interesting to see that most of the flights to Kalibo have a stopover in Tablas, Romblon.

And this is the Domestic Passenger Traffic in the year 1965. Kalibo is 18th on the list.

But of course. They are circa 1965. It was called "island hopping". Thank you for sharing. It would have been nice if you took picture of the entire page.

Are those coming from the Yearbook because the look of it says so?

Yes there used to have flight back then from Tablas to Kalibo according to my older siblings...A lot of people in Tablas has roots in Aklan...they study and do business in Kalibo...

HHmmmmmm, what drives Kalibo in 1965 to be included in the top 20. Boracay is not known yet in that year..

Parang dati pa Kalibo is Kalibo, sikat na ata siya before Boracay.

I guess because its one of the business and educational center of Northern Panay...and of course Ati Atihan festival is already popular...Romblon back then is part of Western Visayas so travel to the regional center in Iloilo has to pass through Kalibo...

nope, not a yearbook. it's from a study conducted by the US Dept of State about Philippine airports back in the 60's

i had to go through it for my own thesis.

Kalibo is KALIBO it's one of the most vibrant TOWN in the Philippines. Base sa list we are still the third busiest in the Province kaya siguro hindi na nailipat yang location sa iba kasi BUSY na pala, Historically Kalibo Airport location is just BORROWED by former congressman Godofredo Ramos from a wealthy family who lives in Australia and US today until the government acquired during Marcos era.

Wow. Zamboanga is in the 5th Place. Can I repost this in the ZIA Thread just to illustrate the grandeur of Zamboanga, half a century ago.

i like this post. So its true na kuwento ng tatay ko na they used to ride a plane from Roxas papuntang Iloilo, it was easier and faster at that time. Going to manila from roxas would take a little longer because may pick up pa na passengers at Tablas airport. Those were the days. Very enlightening information.

i just noticed, parang mas comprehensive yung route networks sa Pilipinas half a century ago compared ngayon. mas madami yung routes, and mas madami yung destinations
