I suppose they can invite corporate head quarters.
Due to its isolated location, GIFT can host only those type of companies which can work from anywhere without needing a bustling market around them; at least for now.

After 10 years that can change with GIFT itself becoming a bustling place to do business...

That was one thing that occured to me. What about places to recreate, eat and hang out, near the two buildings?

Yes, that is something they will have to work out; even more important is the issue of transportation i.e. no public transportation exists currently and there is no residential buildings so everybody will have to commute 10-15 kms daily.

I dont think that will be an issue (if you are thinking of dacoits )

The area is situated near to the Airport Gandhinagar road which is quite busy till late in the night. But the road from GIFT to the highway is a bit spooky at night with almost negligible traffic (I know coz I recently went during evening/night)...

TBH, I've never yet heard of highway dacoits on Gujarat roads, let alone this near to Ahmedabad.

Even though they have their own townships, Reliance and Essar still own/rent apartments in Jamnagar for their employees and have bus services to the refineries. Cant see why a similar thing couldnt work for GIFT. Some of the newer high-spec residential projects of Godrej Garden City and Adani Shantigram are roughly as close to GIFT as they are to Prahladnagar.

They released a tender for setting up a Canteen for employees in GIFT back in October.

Yes, that will work nicely. Also there is a fair bit of real estate development along the knowledge corridor (near PDPU, Infocity) which can easily accommodate GIFT employees.

The latest imagery from Digitalglobe has shown up something strange.

The yellow box shows the existing bridge while the red box shows (what looks like) a bridge u/c. And you can see something concrete in the detailed imagery of GE. Also comparing the two images, one can see that the DG image has something new (maybe labourer settlements) left of the river and just outside the red box...

What do you guys think, is that a bridge u/c??

I hope the labor settlements doesn't become a thriving civilization by the river bank.

In the DG imagery you can see 2 triangle shaped settlements. One of them on the right is Raysan village while the other one is new and visible only in the DG imagery.

Interestingly, the red line in the GE imagery shows the approx proposed route of MEGA-Phase 1. Is'nt it possible that the metro could branch out from the main line near the bridge and cross the river alongwith the bridge to GIFT...

It seems my hunch was right, the image overlay in GE explains a lot (you'll immediately see the relevance if you compare the previous pics). Even the bit about the metro falls in place.

So, 99% there is a new bridge being built...

If its true then
I really wish that some one goes to GIFT site and provides latest updates of that bridge coming up near Raysan village.

A couple of dams should be coming up somewhere between Chiloda and Indira Bridge, I wonder if details are finalized.

The sarovar and adjacent riverfront won't materialize without a dam on the river.

reminds me that there was one earth dam near Indroda park which got washed away during flood. That dam would need a permanent reconstruction with gates for flood control. Rivers are the only place to store water.

The Sant Sarovar is itself a dam, which has been built to create the artificial riverfront for GIFT (as well as the Samruddhi Sarovar and all the canals)
