There are two places in Yorkshire with a swear word in them. Scunthorpe and Fucking Leeds.

Maturity levels?
You were the one who decided to take a post completely out of context and make up what you thought it implied - which was complete nonsense. |

Planning app for block 1 now on planning portal. Looks interesting especially the link to charter square which could give us another decent square and plans for the cinema to glow up at night

Making use of Charter Row and square, will probably require some regeneration and investment to bring that up to standard.

Reading through the planning documents I really think they look excellent and exactly the sort of development that can help us stop licking our wounds over sevenstone so much and move on. This really is a high quality development that will improve the Moor no end, well done SWIP.
Overall I am extremely pleased, however the cinema develop looks quite small (only 8 small screens), will this be able to compete with larger cinemas? And the lack of parking is a bit of a surprise too. Still overall I can't wait for this to get moving. |

Some very good plans submitted. The close negotiations with the council and city planners suggests that this would be set to be smoothly approved. My only concern is that planning statement suggest that the opening date may be as late as 2015. Quiet a long wait for a start date set for 2013. Lets hope Sevenstone also progresses as otherwise SW ambition for a lively walkway between Charter Square and The Moor may not flourish. Currently Charter Square is quiet abandoned. This is mainly down to the lack of retailing, the round-about and a lack of active businesses in the area. This development should certainly liven it up, as it would act as a good meeting point for cinema/restaurant goers. Accompanied with the NRQ, shoppers may choose to walk from the NRQ to The Moor via Charter Square stopping at the restaurants on the way for lunch. |

This struck me as well. When I initially looked at the proposals at The Moor, I wondered '8' screens, not enough for a cinema. However, when I read The Star's article which suggests there would be 10 screen. I thought we would be down for another 'Odeon' style cinema, which also has 10 screens. Looking at the application, it suggests we are only down for 8 screens. Although I hope The Star are correct, this development would be heading Sheffield towards the right direct. I absolutely love it and look forward to its construction.

As I said earlier, this looks exactly like the Light in Leeds. Even more so now I've seen the plans. Would be a very good thing for Sheffield.
I don't think the 8 screens will be too few - think it's a similar number to the Light which is always busy. My only worry is that the screens may be a bit small but I'm sure they'll be fine. Also the MSU 1 unit absolutely huge! Nearing the size of debenhams! Maybe a large Next? |

The link between charter square and the moor looks better than I expected. The render looks decent in the design statement. The square really could be very nice and also quite sizeable if they could find a way to link it to sevenstone (if it ever happens). Would also make getting from the division street area to the moor a much more pleasant experience and probably make town feel less linear

This is the most positive development news that we've had in a long time. It's good to see things progressing down on the Moor, it's been in a state for far too long.
What's the latest on the old McDonalds unit? I saw the plans from about a year back, but it's gone quiet. |

I wonder if they'll let me have one of those hexagon slabs in charter sq? I loved those as a kid - it was like being on blockbusters!

Isn't it gonna get re-dug up when they change that paving?

With that amount of sand as substrate, it's hardly suprising that the pavements lift and crack.
[Can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong with the planning portal, please? When clicking on drawings I only ever get a "This document is unavailable for viewing at this time" message. Is it a cookie thing?] |
